Well I've fallen victim to this tactic before so just this very last game I played, I thought I'd give it a shot. I specced my rook out before hand on a website and was ready to go. Turns out, if you don't have enough time to plop down a good amount of towers well beyond your nearest default tower, it doesn't hold up. So:
-catch him before he defenses up
-come in from behind
-team up (
)
-Regulus/Sedna/Queen
I thought mana would be a factor, and at first it was, but after two helms - I was able to stay out on the front line long enough to acquire 9k before I knew it. My final conclusion on this one time trial is that while it's great for area denial (and that's important), I'm far too interested in seeing my enemies fall. I ended with 1/2 k/d. I was caught off guard for the 2 deaths, and the 1 kill I wasn't anywhere near where the guy died. Pure luck.
The most effective tower Rook I've faced that comes to mind was a guy named Owa. I know I've seen him on the forums before, so maybe he can go into more detail.
