The Republic, Public Invite

I have founded a new Empire, the Republic. I would like to say that in no way is my Empire a hardcore gaming group, but rather a place to have fun, without having to worry about the competition. If you would like to join or are just curious you may find the Empire here: http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 or [email protected] for more info :) .

OK. I just joined! I wasn't sure I wanted to join one either, but what the hell! And I brought my score along! I'll have some more scores posted tonight (something to be said for traveling for work and staying at hotels)! :D

Welcome OronHaus :CONGRAT:.

To CypherPax, yes once I went on a campaign of absolute carnage, however, I encountered a bug, so my score didnt get posted. What happened was my TerrorStar destroyed the last enemy star system in the galaxy and my game crashed! So its obviously a bug, because I should have won a military conquest.
:sniff!:

Have you guys tried the terror stars yet?
End of quote

Yes, and they are pretty cool. Keep in mind that you can use them for other things besides blowin' up systems. I like to load them up with cultural influence mods and build them in the corner of an alien sector. Then once the planets in the sector have flipped over to my side I'm only 1 or 2 moves away from another alien sector and I can do it all over again with the same terror star. :D

I play mostly Universalist. I bump up my population growth and economy. That seems to be a good fit for my playing style. I may bump up military in some future games to experiment, but I'm working on finishing a couple in progress first! :)

I am also a Universalist and throw in some luck for when the game gets a little tough to get my 'Lucky Rangers'. I have not tried any of the other parties. I normally have Luck, Dipolmacy, Trade, ect...Not too much military stuff.

Yeah...military tends to be something I build anyway. It's usually the money making that I'm concerned about. By the way, does adding luck truly make it more likely to find Rangers? Is that the only type of luck that is present? I might have to give that a go! :D

Not 100% sure; in the games that I am behind in, I get all kinds of Lucky Rangers, but if I am very close to the leaders or am the leader, I dont get any. I'm sure this is by design though; anyone out there know for sure?

Interesting. Perhaps it is when the AI is less intelligent and this is a mechanism to aid the players against the AI (to create an illusion of less intelligence). Unsure. I just haven't seen a Ranger in a long while and Universalists have a luck bonus! It would be great to get one in one of my games. I need to teach the Arceans who's boss!!! LOL

Haha- Im a universalist as well. It offers enough of a spread to keep me interested. Other times though, Ive played as the Federalists- economic bonuses' are nice...

Once I get a bit better, I think I'll start trying the other parties for some change. But right now, I have some work to do on beating the more intelligent AIs. Hell, just surviving! ;)

Don't put too much stock in the good side of luck, folks. Luck is more to prevent bad things from happening to you. The good things are less likely to happen to the #1 power in the game, so the real benefit of that boosted luck if you are the top power is to prevent bad things. If you are behind, though, then the boosted luck does provide consistent good benefits as well as help prevent the bad ones.

I'm with Aadik, Federalists are my favorite. When you can out-produce your enemy you can usually beat him. Add to this a PQ bonus and then you can colonize all the PQ 14 planets that the A.I. ignores and then procede to have the edge in population, economy, and manufacturing. :)

Yeah! I saw that yesterday! And I have one more game about complete. Probably another 4000 points! I should have that posted tomorrow after I finish it on the plane tomorrow afternoon! Wicked! :D

Ive got to figure out a way to get my scores on the net- is there a way to take a saved game score and upload it here ? Ive got 2 games that are basically finised and worth a few points...

The Republic is now a top 10 empire. :CONGRAT: Welcome to the major league. Show us what you got, because you are now on the map. And anything on the map is a target. :)

Aadik,

Yeah...once you finish them (under the latest patch) it will save an endgame right before submission. Then just load it, hit turn and bamn! Also, save right before you think you will win and then play it until you win and it should ask you to submit! :)

OronHaus, thanks- will do that tomorrow. Ah hell, I can install it on this computer without too much hassle at work..
