Can't update the game

Does anyone know any workarounds for getting Impulse to properly install the beta demigod update? No matter how many times I download and run the update, Impulse seems to refuse to apply it.

I've temporarily copied the files manually and unzipped them over the game directory manually and I seem to be able to play still, but Impulse still thinks the game hasn't been properly updated (which I guess it hasn't).

Any log file I can look at to see what went wrong or anything of that sort?
