Question on future content.

Ok this may come off as a little pissy and yeah maybe it is a little bit but I still think it's a legitimate question to ask.

I bought Supreme Commander because it was a CT game, it was the follow up to TA, and it was supposed to have unit/map downloads like TA did.

I was sorely dissapointed when there was not a single downloadable piece of content in sight until the expansion. With the expansion even all we got were a couple units per side and an incomplete side. Yet again afterwards, no downloadable content.

Anyways, the question I'm posing here is what makes Demigod different from SupCom in the promised downloadable content? I've heard this before from GPG and they have not delivered.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying for additional content. I mean hell, I bought TA and it's expansion twice just because my cd's were so abused from playing so much. Have all the DLC for fallout 3, etc etc..

But when someone promises free downloadable content I hope they mean it. It really puts a sour taste in my mouth when I'm lied to like that.

I do have hope that since SD is involved this will not be the case. I guess a little reassurance never hurt anyone though.

Sounds like your beef concerns GPG and you even say yourself you are comfy with SD so why not post this in GPG forums instead of here?

Someone hasn't been keeping up on the news..

Demigod: Clan Wars is a free "DLC" coming in early summer that will allow clans to be matched up as teams and such and probably other stuff, we haven't heard much at this point.

There are also 2 free Demigods planned, but that will probably take a little bit longer.

The game hasn't even been out for a month. No offense, but it is far too early to be asking for DLC.

This is the GAME forum, so it is perfectly acceptable that he post about it here.  This isn't the Stardock forum, GPG also posts and replies here.  Continue asking the tough questions!

In addition, he is not saying he wouldn't put down the monetary support, he is asking if they can be trusted to provide.

Best way to keep up with what we're doing is to read the journals forum.

I think we will get the clan wars, 2 free demigods, fixes and balance changes.  Maybe custom mod support, replay mode, extra game mode (tower defense and capture the flag).

From stardock side, you'll get better multiplayer support, group joins, statistics, tournaments.

I think you'll see a repeat with an expansion pack within a year.  The expansion pack would be cheaper $10-20 like sins of a solar empire.

Yeah SupCom had a different develop so that's probably why your hopes and dreams of new units in a video game were crushed...I really feel for you man.  I'm truly sorry...I send my condolences

<EndSarcasm>

Okay with the sarcasm off, they are releasing 2 NEW Demigods/Maps and Clan Wars as everyone else has said.  You'll survive.

That's kind of what I'm getting at....

I have been following the journals but as even you said yourself they're mostly network centric reports and we havn't seen anything from GPG specifically I don't believe.

Maybe I didn't phrase the question properly? What I'm really driving at is what is going to make this game last in the long haul? What is going to keep the players playing? Will we see a map editor released? That sort of thing..

My post wasn't supposed to be taken as being pissy because it really isn't. I'm pretty satisfied with the game overall.

One of the Journal posts I saw a week or two ago mentioned that there were 4 teams working on DG: 2 from SD, and 2 from GPG. That post said that one of the GPG teams was working on new content, while the other was doing network stuff.
