4X+ Shatters? Ice TB.

Hi there, I play Ice TB pretty much exclusively but one thing I've been wondering is how to get my Shatter multiplier up.

Right now, the maximum I've been able to achieve is 3X, and that's only after level 15, up until then it's just 2X.

Most of my games end before I get any higher, so I'm wondering is there something obvious I'm missing? Is there an item or something that reduces my cooldown enough to stack debuffs or a skill on the Fire tree?

I like Shatter as an interrupt, it means I can pretty much maul anything that relies on skills with castbars, but I'm almost sure I've seen an Ice TB achieve 4X or even 5X Shatters.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I don't think you can :)

Looking at the description of deep freeze, only if the target is affected by frost nova/rain of ice debuffs then each of the debuff will shatter (x2 up until level 15, where you can get "Biting Chill" skill which adds another debuff to Rain of Ice, therefore making it x3 shatter). You cannot get any higher.

There's no way to get 4x Shatter. Rain of Ice effect is consumed, Frost Nova is consumed, and at level 15, you can get an additional effect for Rain of Ice that is consumed.

I think effects from multiple TBs stack, allowing for 4X.  Not positive tho...

may be caused by the "fire and ice" skill...but may as well be not..

besides that, i'm pretty positive, i've seen that too.

Fire and Ice definitely doesn't do it.  I can't remember if I've ever gotten x4, but if it's possible I assume it's coming from RoI, Deep Freeze, Frost Nova's stun and Frost Nova's snare...  I know I've seen x4 before, but I don't remember why and I doubt Nova alone is enough to give x2 no matter how fast you shatter, but it shouldn't be too hard to test.

I'm pretty sure frost nova, rain of ice + biting chill gets you 4x shatter, without biting chill it's 3x. I've used it before, but I've been using fire + ice combo lately so I don't remember the details too well.

NO WAI!

... u can't shatter more than 3X .... there aren't just not enough ice debuffs ^^.

 

it was just mentioned ... #1 frost nova, #2 rain of ice + #3 biting chill and as far as i learned from "The Count" (thank you Sesame Street!) ... that's 3.

I've personally never seen myself shatter more than 3X .. and i play Ice TB really often (sometimes with a friend who's playing Ice TB too) ... and i'm pretty sure that the debuffs dont stack :>. 

And btw: SCREEN OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Alright, I tested it out a bit, and the way shatter works with Frost Nova is it only consumes the snare, not the stun, which means a max of x3.  It's possible that it used to consume the stun as well, which would cause the x4 multiplier, but currently it's not possible.

It actually is possible, but it's based on the speed you're able to achieve it. You have to make sure all debuffs are still tacked on by the time you shatter, otherwise you wont get the 4x, and you need to be incredibly fast to do it. The best way for sure is 2 Ice TBs, have one with Biting Chill/Rain, while the other Novas then Shatters afterwards.

Uhh no.. I don't think there is a 4x shatter.  I play only ice TB - I've learned to master every nuance.  Even with -30% cool down (flag, item and favor item) I have yet to see a 4x shatter.

What are all the debuffs?  I only count three.

The only possibility, and this is a stretch, is that you can consume your own shatter debuff in extreme circumstances, but I doubt it.  It's a 15 second cooldown abilty with a 7 second duration, so you'd need a good 110%'ish cooldown reduction, which would be difficult to get to say the least.  Maybe it's possible with flags, I dunno.

Otherwise if you get a 4x shatter it's a bug.  Currently you can only shatter your own debuffs, please explain exactly how to get it if you say you can, because "all the debuffs" add up to three as far as I can tell.
