Rooks Towers - what they get bonuses from

After extensive testing, I have determined all the sources that can increase the HP or damage of Rooks towers.  They are listed below:

  • Skill points

That's it.

They do not receive bonuses from citadel upgrades.

They do not receive bonuses from +minion effects or any other item properties.

They do not receive bonuses from the tower strength setting during level creation.

At level 10, with four points in the skill, they're as good as they're ever going to get.

If anything they need to have health lowered, not sadly.  :D  On 75% of the maps rook tower farming is unstopable unless you have a tb or regulus, but we shouldn't be forced to pick one of those two when we see someone taking him.  :|

But to actually be on topic, thanks for finding this out.

QoT can counter too.. and any rook in a farm can be damaged a lot by uproot at max rank for the AoE...(which if you manage to get skill use time reductions in ) can have a couple of them burning at once..

Yes, but it usually keeps 2 of 3 or all DG's on your team busy, while the other cap the flags... playing vs a good rook is really a challenge, mostly you are doomed.

Would Oak's penitence increase the damage the towers do? I'd like to see them working together :)

uproot is way too mana intensive to be a real counter to rook tower farms, you're better off in most cases trying to ignore rook and using uproot to push hard in another lane. Sometimes that isnt an option though. QOT's better counter is just ground spikes and letting the AI beat on the towers.

We managed to do semi well spiking a tower, shielding ub, and letting him spit on the tower and claw it down in no time flat, but it wasted two people getting those towers down while the other team was able to farm and cap flags.  However, if you leave rook alone, he will quickly push into your base and, as the achievement says, "All your base are belong to Rook."  (It'd be cool if rook could talk, I mean he talked in his story right?  What happened to his voice all the sudden?  I've been wanting them to add "Rook Smash!" to the hammer slam for so long...)

Good point - it should.

Any minion focused build can take out towers without any problems at all, as long as it includes both summoned minions and idol minions. Plus, all of the general DGs are better than Rook.

However, towers definitely don't need to be able to be buffed.

The only change to towers that needs to be addressed is their time to live. Towers shouldn't crumble if left alone unless destroyed or you cast another new one but have the reached the maximum.

lol that would be ridiculously OP

+1

Towers are really only balanced by the fact that if they aren't used, they go away. This keeps a rook from putting down towers on one lane, then lumbering over to push another.

btw: Towers do not count as minions and thus don't get bonuses from items.

I had heard armor mitigates rook's tower damage, so logically spikes and bite should improve it.  Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe they're dissimilar to base towers in that respect as well.

Thank you for restating the OP.

I'm pretty sure you're right, although I haven't had a chance to rigorously test that since I thought of it.
