Make mode changing less painful

Mode changing with QoT and Torchbearer is extremely painful in this game.  Too many times I have to hit the button multiple times to change modes before it actually goes through.  This happens more in laggy games than non-laggy games.  QoT is particularly unbalanced when she can't mode switch with ease, so fixing this would relieve the balance issues and makes QoT competitive.  Sometimes I can get QoT to mode switch without stopping, but most of the time mode switching causes the character to stop.  If the character continued to MOVE while mode switching consistently that would go a long way to making this less painful.

Either way, can we get the torchbearer buff to stay as long as he remains in that mode?  Like I said, mode switching is PAINFUL in this game, it takes too long, it hangs up your character, it doesn't go through, it's unreliable.  But I do it often to try to get the mana regen or attack increase on torchbearer.  It would be nice if these were permanent buffs.

The switch timer may be reduced just a little bit, but only with 1-2 seconds or something. However, I fully agree with your point about clicking the icon multiple times to do something. Even skills it sometimes doesn't seem to work. For example, you click Bramble Shield, then your ally and it does NOTHING! When this happened 3 times in a row, and my ally died because the game failed to perform the action and my ally yelled at me for being stupid I rage quitted.... god I was pissed.

I've played QoT many times and agree that mode changing is a rather nasty thing to master. There are times when I went to open mode to cast Ground Spikes, only to have my bramble shield broken by some burst damage combo. The delay in going back to closed mode to cast bramble shield seemed like an eternity.

Trying to switch between the two forms to juggle the skills to cast on the situation also prevents her from performing her normal attacks. Which is another thing to take into account.

It would be nice mode changing was more fluid...

This is all part of the balance of the character though.  I think maybe a little better feedback on whether or not you successfully pressed the button is about as good as you can get it.  The whole reason you have to change modes is because of how powerful having both sets of skills active at a time is.

And seriously, mana regen and Damage permanent buffs?  This isn't just put in the game as a micro management mini game.  The whole point is that those are VERY strong effects, and not intended to be balanced if they were continuously active.

I have to disagree. The mode changing timer is their to prevent QoT and TB from being too powerful. Imagine facing a mostly ice TB. he does a 2x shatter combo, then switches instantly and uses fireball for an extra nuke, then imidiatly switches back. I dont know the numbers of hand, but thats a hell of a lot damage that could all be done in about 5 seconds without any mode changing timer. I have less experience with QoT, but its a similar issue.

Personally I think mode changing on QoT is OK because she can move while changing. TB is not OK and he should also be able to move while changing. When I play QoT, I have no problems mixing Open/Closed skills. When I play TB, I go exclusively fire or ice, specially on small maps where you barely have time to change.

You always have time to change, I do it frequently in combat as a hybrid TB and dont die much if at all. It would be nice if you could keep moving though..

The problem is part lag and part an additional move command too quickly after you hit the form swap cancels the swap.  I've died way too many times because QoT wouldn't switch to closed when I told her to :(.

I agree, they should be able to move while changing modes at the very least.  Changing modes is far too painful as it stands.  This is one of the primary reasons I play them very little compared to the other demigods.

As Chaoticon said, playing a hybrid TB and switching forms without dying is not difficult. You just need to learn when it's appropriate to change and when it isn't.

The ability to move while changing forms would be completely overpowered. For example, switching from fire to ice would grant 50% bonus damage and activate a slowing aura on your opponent, all WHILE you were chasing them. This gives them exactly zero chance to get away from you.

Finally, on my computer at least, as soon as I hit change forms, my ability to move is completely locked. Issuing repeated move commands while changing just makes this dull error sound until the form change is complete. I have never canceled a form change - I can't.

I never said mode changing on TB was difficult. And if allowing him to move while changing mode is OP due to the mode-shift bonuses then the answer is simple: nerf the bonuses.

Screw that.  This game is, by very definition a game of management.  Those of us who do well and smoothly transition between modes to get bonus' shouldn't have our skill nullified by a dumbing down of the system.
