The best 'The Rook' strategy I have come up against yet

The best 'The Rook' strategy I have come up against yet

If you are terrible at playing The Rook... then don't pick him!  If you run around the map setting up zero towers and not using any of your abilities... then don't pick The Rook!  If you run in to the enemy demigod with only half health because you have no idea what structural transfer does... then pick a different demigod than The Rook!

It's a pretty simple and solid strat new players and pros alike can really get behind.

I play a lot of Rook and have generally done fairly well.  Typically my first skill is lvl 1 towers... and that's the only point I put into towers.

Boulder+Hammer is effective if you can time it right but Hammer Slam has it's uses otherwise.  It's extremely useful on creep waves to gain quick experience when on the move for instance.  It's also very effective at simply scaring enemy demigods off and giving you a little breathing room.  Many will start to run as soon as they see the hammer go up and it's easy to stop the slam when they do, making it easy to keep it around as a constant deterent to some gank manuevers.  Do not throw the hammer the second an enemy demigod gets in range either, they'll often waste their stun right away thinking you will - meanwhile you just slap them around instead and hammer after.

I'm not arguing that a tower Rook can't be good or very effective, but it's certainly not the only viable way to play the Rook.

OrexxerO plays a wicked rook without towers. Of course, there's a reason he's rank 2.

Rook doesn't need towers to kick ass. You just gotta know how to play without them.

I agree. Structural transfer and hammer slam are great rook abilities, and getting god strength makes him a beast. Towers are nice but they are more defensive since you have to set them up and let the enemy come to you.

Rook doesn't need "Towers" per se but they're really nice until late game. By then you have God's strenght III and some decent equipment and won't need towers OR structural transfer to wipe the floor with absolutely everyone!  The towers are a purely inconsequential but they've more than made up for it in early and mid-game! And you'll still trash the opposition due to your enormous base damage, excellent armor and health. Chasing is for other heroes but you can usually suprise the enemy (I tend to have more kills than any other hero late game!)

Yeah I don't see Rook as a purely defensive DG at all.

I think the strongest Rook strength is anti-building.  The combined with a nice forest of your own towers is really powerful in the early game for keeping pressing on one of the sides forcing enemy DGs to react to you.

Once strength of the gods comes out though The Rook starts to get some nice offensive power, particularly with stacking crit items.  Landing 3k+ crit is not out of the question at all.

It's all in your build and how you manage your Rook in conjunction with other teammates based on their needs.

Btw, noticed a user name "Kei-Chan", hope the forums don't get flooded with weaboos from 4chan, he or she? had a valid post though, while im completely off topic. My bad:)

And yet you have two memes that thrived on 4chan and are often associated with it in your avatar, and one of them even originated there.
