I'm in the same boat. I cannot begin to tell you how many hours I've spent trying to get this game to work. I'm ready to walk away now and sympathize with you. Don't waste too much time on what appears to be a hopelessly flawed game.

Lets just view things optimistcally. I guess Stardock is working pretty hard as they are taking a bold step in implementing P2P instead of the traditional server-based hosting to improve our gameplay quality as P2P has almost no delay as compared to server-based hosting that has quite a couple of delay which can really hinder a RTS game.

Even though I applaude them for taking such a bold step, if their 'bold step' does not work, I'd rather they not try it and just return to traditional hosting methods. At least we GET TO PLAY. I'm completely unable to play at the moment. I'd rather some freaking delay than being completely 100% unable to play online (LAN is also impossible as playing on GameRanger/Hamachi is not possible due to the fact all the other LAN players are pirates that use unpatched versions of Demigod, thus I'm TOTALLY unable to play with other human players at all).

While I'm very supportive of Stardock and their constant patches to try piece the puzzle back, if it really isn't going to work, I really hope Stardock will not overestimate themselves.

They recently released a patch which re-activated the Proxy Server function. Try to connect to people via Proxy Server.

Right click on your Desktop Shortcut for Demigod and select Properties.

Add: /skipintro /serverproxyonly

I'm in the same boat, the /serverproxyonly command line doesn't fix it for me either. I connect fine to everyone else, they cannot connect to me. And I was playing fine a couple weeks ago. UPnP is off on my router, ports 6100-6200 and port 6073 are all forwarded to my computer in my NAT settings. Whatever's been changed in recent patches has broken my ability to play multiplayer.

hmmm Ive tried to host 1v1 games and see if any one can join.

Everytime I join with them right away but again they cannot connect to me.

oddly once I connected to someone, waited a while then they connected to me but as soon as they did, my connection with them broke and it said I tried to connect to connect to him again! wtf

some routers have both.

my dlink-524 had a 'firewall' tab, which allowed you to set up port ranges as seen below:

it also had in another tab 'misc' which allowed me to turn off SPI

a stateful firewall (any firewall that performs stateful packet inspection (SPI) or stateful inspection) is a firewall that keeps track of the state of network connections (such as TCP streams, UDP communication) traveling across it. The firewall is programmed to distinguish legitimate packets for different types of connections.

basically SPI will slow down your routers processing
