No Updates/Little News in the past 6 Weeks or So. Is Sins Being Updated Anymore?

Little news has been posted in the past 6 weeks or so and there haven't been any updates in awhile.  Is Sins still being updated and receiving the attention that this great game deserves?

I thought there were going to be two more mini-addons.  Are those still planned?  What's up?  Things have gotten very quiet.  I'd hate to see this great game die.

Hi all,

I am new here, so forgive me when I say I agree with the post above me. My husband and I love playing games like Sins. We were looking for a new game and decided to purchase it. <big fan of Sid M. Civs here> So anytime I find a game as engaging as Sins is, well I then begin to follow it. However I will say I just stumbled upon this thread in my efforts to dig up some current news about patches or editions to this fun game. I am living proof of what these fans are saying.

This game has the potential to be  great. The computer world needs a well done space civ building game. But it would be nice to know what is coming in the future and of any fixes and some place centrally located I can refer to get that information. I am sure like most jobs there are not enough hours in the day, but remember this- we the fans are the ones holding the 'purse strings'- so to speak. No offence intended, but just a fact. I really am enjoying Sins! Bring on the patches and expansions and word will spread far and wide!

complete as in ready? so where are they?
(...)
this was said a very long time ago in a thread by mooster... still waiting for that soon.
Releasing stuff takes time. It ain't just a make & upload business. Patch has to be tested (so every next update doesn't f**k the game up like relic does with COH recently), sent to the publisher for further testing (they're paying the devs for their job, so they want to know if it's done well) etc.

a smiley face doesnt cover up a rude, overly defensive and smart arse comment
I wouldn't say that much, really.

i am genuinely happy about this... but like everyone else has said, 5 mins to say somewhere whats going on (and not needing to resort to smart arse comments) is not going to kill anyone
Well, Blair posted a few lines of info and that's just fine. If he was to go deeper into everything they're planning for the next five years of developing Soase, he would never have time to code any of it.
A few lines of info regularly = ok. Some teasers = ok too.

Exactly, alot of SD/IC's personnel dont have those Staff badges under their avatars... if this was a thread about something off topic, and the other people here werent kissing your ass, i wouldnt know you (Blair) from any body else on the interwebs, and i dont think searching every topic on the forums is any ones idea of being 'informed'

All in all, IC/SD didn't deserve that much bashin'.

I just wanted to suggest that they spend a few minutes weekly to post some visible news everyone could find. That would be helpful in keeping the forums and fanbase alive.
After all, IC's doing a better job than Relic with COH (10 patches, each fixing 2 things and breaking 3 other) and Creative Assembly (E:TW beta sold out!)

Yeah, sorry about sounding like an ass. I felt the need to remind people just how much effort we've put into supporting Sins and forgot that not everyone knows our history and wouldn't have known. It was a fair question for them to ask "where is the support!?!"

As in the past, all the actual news appears on the front page and upcoming news appears in the Sins General "pinned" section (the block at the top). This prevents needing to search all around. Also, in the past the release notes for patches were usually posted in the pinned section prior to the release so everyone had a heads up. The notes never got posted this time so it was kind of a gap in the information flow.

I'll talk to everyone here to make sure any information that the most important tidbits of news or upcoming news are also copied into the appropriate areas so it won't happen going forward.

Finally, if you do see something posted by someone with an "Ironclad" or "Stardock" logo and/or the "Moderator" logo you know what they are saying is official (look at my logos for an example).

First, thanks to Blair for being a big person and admitting he sounded like an ass. Sorry for my own response, but i didnt apreciate the response given the pretty ordinary request.

i realise this, which is why i said complete as in ready? as in ready to be uploaded... he did say they are complete, without a but, so i was wondering if there is no but why is there no patch?

i never asked for that much info, i only asked for the exact same as everyone here on this thread, just 5 mins to say whats going on, even if its just, hey, look, heaps busy with stuff (and the word stuff is fine) no real update this week sorry, and id be happy. i havent got big expectations, just would like something. also, i just asked for it to be posted somewhere central. Blair said all news is posted in the pinned section in the Sins general forum... i have to say i havent seen any new threads there in a while, especially not about whats going on with the latest updates or with the next X-Pack.

All in all, IC/SD didn't deserve that much bashin'.

i wasnt bashing SD/IC or anyone here, i was simply saying that, to an outsider, its possible to not know who he is, and he could just be some random who decides to start a rumour or take up a sword on the Devs behalf, but it does not make him right. again, it was linked to the fact that searching through every forum post to find tidbits of info is impractical, especially when not all staff have the big staff badges.

I just wanted to suggest that they spend a few minutes weekly to post some visible news everyone could find. That would be helpful in keeping the forums and fanbase alive.

absolutely agreed. i think SD/IC does fantastic work with regular updates etc and asking what the community wants (ala Frogboy's post Diplomacy Wishlist)

however, all i (and others) asked for was a dedicated, regularly updated (even with a 60 sec "sorry we're busy no update today" post) news forum where each piece of news gets its own thread rather than searching through generalised threads and threads created by other people, and the response we got was a smartass retort about we should be happy with what we have, or else. didn't much appreciate that

All in all, thanks for the reply Blair. sorry it came down to mud slinging, and at least its been brought to someones attention so we can move forward and keep on improving.

Thanks for the response, Blair.

I want to clarify that it's the optics I was concerned with, not the company. There's still a huge percent of the gaming population that don't actively go to and search a game's forums, particularly those that might be interested in buying the game but haven't committed yet. It's one thing to use the forums to communicate latest status to the already-dedicated fanbase, but it's the website that potential new buyers are going to look at first. That two month news gap on the home page looks like a dead title to newbies dropping by to check things out, even if that is far from the truth.

This has been a particularly bad time to have no Sins news because (again, optics only) it looks like that other Stardock title is getting 100% of the attention, and to someone that's not familiar with your split of (upcoming=forums / announcements = main page) process, the quiet main site raises concern about Stardock's dedication to the Sins universe.
