New Demigod: Lord of Flies

This is a general, he is a man shaped demonic swarm of flies.

Powers:

Maggots - Power can be switched on or off, but only costs mana when it is triggered, which the player does not actively do.  With a percentage chance that scales with the skill level, any units dying within a radius from the Lord of Flies is infested with maggots who consume the corpse over a period of time and spawn a cloud of stinging flies.  These flies are the demigod's minions, and though they're relatively weak they can only be damaged by AOE effects and have a good vision range so are useful scouts. The flies do not spawn immediately, the maggotty corpse takes some time to be consumed (which goes down with the power level of this skill) during which it can be destroyed so no flies are generated.

Infuse flies - increases the power of fly swarms & maximum number of swarms which can be controlled at one time.

Fly power - Lord of flies gains damage, vision range, and hitpoints and becomes physically larger as more flies are integrated into his self.  This skill also adds a scaling area of effect to lord of flies’ attack.

15th level synergy skill when maxing out infuse flies and fly power - lord of flies becomes one with his flies and damage they do heals him, and damage he does heals them as their enemies are consumed.

Digest - similar to unclean beast, lord of flies vomits on his victim.  It does not do as much damage as UB’s spit, but the lord of flies digests the victim healing himself as the damage occurs.  Both damage and healing occur over time.

Possess swarm – lord of flies temporarily moves his consciousness into one of his swarms, turning it into a miniature version of himself.  While possession is active, the lord of flies character cannot move or use any abilities and is vulnerable to attack.  Possessed swarm has no items, is weaker than the lord of flies, and has no abilities – but is very strong for a minion (scaling with the level of this skill).  Lord of flies can use this ability from the safety of his base, but he will then gain no experience from kills and can’t capture flags. This skill has infinite range, so can be used to aid an ally across the map or harass an enemy trying to attack a tower – so long as the player has stationed a fly swarm nearby.  Can also be used as a kamikaze to chase enemy demigods into their base or attack towers.  Possessed swarm maintains its enhanced state for a short while after possession ends, allowing a short period of controlling both lord of flies and possession.

Engulf – Lord of flies completely engulfs his victim stunning him and causing damage.  Lord of lies is engaged in the engulf for the same amount of time as the victim is stunned, which scales with skill power.

I like the idea.

so digest = spit with a hot

and engulf = foul grasp without a life drain...not very original. The level 15 synergy can't be that powerful of a heal if he has digest. It should either make the lord of flies more ethereal, or let the lord consume flies for small hp  heal and small evasion buff.

Sounds like he needs a lot of microing to zoom all your flies around the place.  Also having aoe as the only counter flies means some heroes are at a considerable disadvantage (especially since so many skills seem to affect flies).  Also all current generals are able to build without minions.  Looks like you only have 3 skills that arn't minion based and one of those is passive.

Good idea. I would change digest to be a debuff. It does low dps, but instead of directly healing the LoF, it allows the LoF to gain a lifesteal attack when he attacks that enemy. It kind of makes a bit more sense that way beause he would vomit on another hero, who would begin to be digested. Then the LoF and his minions could feast off that hero and gain some life back.

That synergy sounds like a pretty cool idea. but It could be more interesting. Maybe he could merge with all his flies and become one giant swarm?

He would need to be shaped like a pig, if we are going to do things like the book.  The swarm of flies should just follow him, maybe around his face or something, but he should have a pig's face....or he could look like the devil, considering the Lord of the Flies is a metaphor for the devil.  Instead of Lord of the Flies, you could call him Beezlebub, which is the Hebrew word for "Lord of the flies" as well as a demonic figure which is essentially satan, especially since this was where the inspiration to name the book "The Lord of the Flies" came from in the first place.

In other news, you could also make the flies large, like only slightly smaller than grunts, that would be interesting.

Ah, I don't think I explained what I had in mind well, I was thinking engulf would be maybe more like a mix between erberus' mistform and foul grasp.  Much smaller than Erberus', and with a set time it was active instead of the player controlling when he shifted back, but the lord of flies is invincible and the units in it are stunned (swatting, jumping around). Could be either a single target or small AOE, not sure about ballancing on that.  I also thought the life draining damage over time vomit might be an interesting mechanic because you could (theoretically) be gaining life, while damaging them, while whacking on them with a weapon giving you (potentially) a good edge in toe to toe combat.  The healing wouldn't need to be very aggressive to be quite useful I think, used cleverly it would allow a player to be competitive in slugging stuff out while avoiding going back to the health crystal using nothing but mana helms.

Also, I was thinking that the cloud swarms only being hit by aoe effects would be more of an advantage against some demigods than others, but that's the case with most powers.  Demigods with no aoe attack could try to destroy the magot corpses before the flies swarmed, or fight close to towers (which do AOE), or stick to an ally with aoe, or buy an item with aoe damage, or just get extra health & armor and ignore the flies.  I can't imagine anybody willing to be flexible would be shutdown by this, it'd be just something that might make you shift your strategy - just like running smack into a rook tower farm might.

I also don't really see the objection to there being few non-minion skills, I suggest

Minion: maggots, infuse, possess

Non-minion: fly power, digest, engulf

I can certainly imagine minion or non-minion builds with these skills.

Great idea aesthetically, but I dunno about those skills you could come up with something cooler.
