Well, it depends on many factors, however it's quite possible it's the other person that you can't connect causing the problem and not yourself. From experience so far, it seems that some people's connections just really, really hate my connection for no real reason at all.

Try forcing your computer to use the proxy servers - if your from America - if not, your in a simillar boat to me and just have to wait for them to add location logic to Proxy servers and update 1.01. Sorry.

thxs for the reply i think it might be a region problem with the line and the nat sistem dosn't work with these numbers and it is very annoying we have this issue im in scotland for example and my clan mates can play this and there in england so it might be this.

p.s. pls dont delete my post agein as there is no reason to do so.

There must be a lot of "regional problems" then because people all over the world are having online problems but just with DG (oddly enough). Lets face facts - the online game is essentially broken for a significant number of paying customers and I for one do not see a fix on the horizon.

It's more then a regional problem. I don't have less troubles connecting to computers from neighbor countries then half way around the globe, so it can't be ISP peering only.

Rant mode on:

It's definitely not just a regional thing.  It cannot be a coincidence that a lot of people cannot connect to anyone for no reason at all and the only common factor is Demigod itself.  My ISP checked the ports and even went to the trouble of showing me the interface logs on their Cisco to prove that it's not blocked.  Every other online game is fine and dandy, this is the only game I cannot connect to anyone in.  I've tried no router, no firewall software, DIFFERENT ISP at work even, switched from Vista to XP and so on.  The only way I could make it a more ideal situation for connection issues would be to bring my computer to their offices to play.  There's something borked in their netcode somewhere and it randomly seems to affect certain people and not others.  What's really bizarre is that a lot of the people I've seen with the same issues have no router or firewall software going on yet people with these things can play just fine.

Brad just gave another press release saying everything is fine and dandy today.  I give up, I submitted logs and detailed my setup for support.  They said they will forward it to the developer and that there is no ETA on a fix.  Heck, they don't even seem to know what the problem is.  I don't have the patience anymore to beta test I've paid for.  The connection problems are their own fault, maybe next time do a public beta test and don't rock the boat with unproven netcode.

Well, in all fairness, 'proven netcode' was once unproven. They made their choices which at the time seemed logical based on the requirements of the game, however with the wonder that is hindsight we're able to see that they mad the wrong choices. They're working as hard as they can to fix it. I too can't play Demigod at all. I'm not American, and so the Proxy servers do not work for me. I have to wait for 1.01 for the regional logic to kick in. I don't have a large amount of upload - listed as 256kbps by my ISP - so with it's large bandwidth requirements Demigod is unplayable even for local connections until they reduce the ungodly amount of Bandwidth this game needs. This also happens in 1.01.

Demigod has seen easily the worst launch of a multiplayer centric title I've ever encountered, however Brad (Frogboy) is dead on when he says the progress they've made is leagues ahead of where they started. It's hard to believe that when your game is still broken, as is mine, and I believe me when I say I understand your frustration. I've bought three new game multiplayer games in the time from Demigod's release till now, and I've played three total, complete, non-broken matches of Demigod. Three. Each time a new fix is announced, it applies to everyone but me. Every time a new patch is released it fixes all the problems except the ones I have. However, we're closer to a working game than we were when we bought it, and I'm willing to give them more time to get it right. If your not, contact them for a refund. Best of luck either way.

well i'll give them a few patches to fix it if they dont im going to bitch to them cos it will be a breach of comsumor rights i believe cos the game is created for multiplayer and i cant play online when i should and that is increadibly unfair and stupid but still i have seen worce patching ie EA patching that always makes the game more unbalanced from perfect balance at lunch there the only developer that are that stupid >.>
