Hitpoint builds

Almost all good players / teams I have come across so far focus on stacking hp/armor items. These players will have 5000-6000 hp midgame and around 8000 hp endgame. I also use this myself for one of my UB builds, which is really effective and I rarely lose with it.

In my opinion the HP stacking, that is possible right now is far too extrem (compared to autoattack and skill damage). The items to pull it of only cost like 10k (total) and it scales extremly well. DPS builds only work on a few demigods, like for example the Regulus. To do it however, you have to sacrify your slots for DPS only items and you will be low on life (1/2 of what the others got or even less). What you also need is at least mageslayer, which is expensiv. In total you'll have to spend like 14-15k to get a reasonable DPS-build going. Yes, if you get Ashkandor you will dominate, but it's very likely you will get owned long before that happens.

If you match up vs three DGs that have decided to totally focus on hp/armor and your team doesn't, then you are screwed, because skill damage and autoattack just won't scale nearly as good. I believe alot of good players have realised this, and that's the reason we are seeing alot of hp/builds these days.

Oak lvl 1 - 1700H, 800M, 400A (13.8%)

-1100g: Blood of the Fallen: 2500H

-550g: Banded Armor: 2900H

0g: Scaled Helm: 1357M

Oak lvl 4 - 3320H, 1552M, 475A (16%)

1500g: Unbreakable Boots: 3920H, 2352M [also have +18h/s now!!] <-- likely the best lowcost item in the game!!

Oak lvl 6 - 4200H, 2482M, 525A (17.4%)

3000g: Nimoth Chest Armot: 4700H, 1275A (33.8%)

Oak lvl 8 - 4980H, 2612M, 1325A (34.6%)

4750g: Vlemish Faceguard: 3662M [also have +23m/s now!!]

Oak lvl 10 - 5260H, 3792M, 1375A (35.5%)

9000g: Heart of Life: +3000H, +3000M every 30s [also have +35 h/s and m/s now!!]

Oak lvl 11 - 5400H, 3857M, 1400A (35.9%)

10310g: Hauberk of Life (replace Scaled): 6000H, 3332M, 1400A (35.9%), 45 H/s, 30M/s

Oak lvl 13 - 6280H, 3462M, 1450A (36.7%)

15040g: Groffling Warplate (replace Banded): 6555H, 3462M, 2650A (51.5%) 40 H/s, 30M/s

Oak lvl 15 - 6835H, 3592M, 2700A (51.9%)

17640g: Namoth Ring (replace Hauberk): 6985H, 3592M, 2700A (51.9%) 51 H/s, 30M/s

Oak lvl 20 - 7685H, 3917M, 2815A (53.1%)

FYI, priest healing is perctentage based also which makes them more effective the higher your hp.

Yea, it makes Sedna virtually impossible to kill in a 1v1 if the game goes long (or like past 15mins) because besides the HP and armor stacking, she gets 44hps from skills, plus another 50hps if she's under 30% health, plus what the items give her, plus her lvl hps. And then she heals for 1500 every 7secs (not counting Magnificent Presence). You need a combination of 2+ DGs and stuns (and balls because she always has company) just to get her to retreat. Maybe if we had more powerful mana drain items...

Get the big creeps. Sedna has no AoE ability, so giants will tie her up trying to protect the base.

Really the only way to beat Sedna is to learn the animation that comes with casting heal. Once she leans forward and the tiger crouches down it's time for your interrupt. Really the only abilities that are able to do it, due to casting time, are:

Deep Freeze (TB)

Foul Grasp (UB)

Penitence (Oak)

Pounce (Sedna)

So basically if you are playing one of these characters you might be able to time it right. I've gotten it down to about 1 in every 4 or 5 castings of Heal that I can interrupt as Oak. Oak and TB have the advantage of Range.

Items that will help are:

Theurgist's Cap with the 5% chance on (you being) hit to reduce targets HP and MP per second by 50% for 10 seconds.

Gauntlets of Despair with the 15% on hit chance to drain 100% Mana.

Parasite Egg to kill her Priest Minions

And that's about it to counter Sedna. Other than straight up DPS or buying an Ashkandor and hoping for the best.

Gauntlets only drain 100 mana. At 15% that's just a bad bad item. Warlord's Punisher burns 400 mana but has a 30sec cooldown.

I dunno, I just tell whoever is with me to ignore Sedna and focus on the other DG she's always with because that one can't be healed as fast. Unless it's Oak and it Shields and HoL. It's a nasty matchup. Once the other dude is down we can force her to retreat if we aren't too weakened.

It's 100 mana, every 6.666 hits. That's nearly useless.

The whole hp/arm stacking isn't a sedna only problem. It's a general problem, because it's hard to counter unless you go hp/arm-build yourself. A dps build requires so much gold, you usually wont be able to pull it off.

New idea: Make HP items give a percent of your HP, instead of a flat rate. It might work! (After all, the reason HP stacking Regulus is so good is because his natural weaknesses lie in low HP and regeneration, and armor affects him just as much as it affects Rook, who has no trouble with HP.)

Of course, that would need a tremendous amount of rebalancing... >.<

I always get a lot of hp items because 1) there are so many skills that do a hell of damage (sniper...). 2) most other items are crap especially +damage (imho) 3) you get other bonuses like mana and armor I never ended with 8000 hp but about 5000 hp is normal when I don't need mana for mass heal or something else. And I always get Citadel upgrades so I don't have the gold for so much hp.

sedna makes her priests super healers and very durable if you didnt notice either.

I wrote it regarding armor, but it was just an example, it's related to health as well.

Too bad people just don't like being hit with 10k critical hit by a wall of text.

HP / armor stacking is fine. The reason most people do it is because it increases survivability which means less chance of a burst damage kill.

A better way to counter it would be to, instead of nerfing HP items, buff damage items of equivalent level. Make the math work so that a person who spends 10k on hp items and 0 on damage items vs a person that spends 10k on damage items and 0 on hp items effectively cancel eachothers gear out. I think that is pretty much the main problem. Damage gear is just a bit underpowered.

Edit: Perhaps give some damage items armor penetration %
