Same very basic questions

HI all - I just found this website while looking for master of magic remakes. :D

Demigod looks fun.  I'm in Australia - whats the chance of playing Multiplayer all the way over her in australia?

also - whats the total download size of the digital version?

I'm on a limited bdget and therefore limited downloads so I thought I would ask before I buy.

In general people seem to like the game - would you suggest i wait until a patch to buy or any other advise?

I have a 1.5mbs connection - thought I'd mention that - i think it's 256 upload - might be 512.

thanks in advance

Once installed, the game take 2,8 gb but you download a compressed version of about 2gb if i remember well.

The last patches have solved most of the problems of the netcode, and both the devs and the publisher are working hard to improve the game but you can always wait for the demo if you want to know what you are buying.

Not sure about Australia, I don't think the problem will be your ping but rather potential router or ISP issues.  In the UK for example my friends and I cannot reliably play Demigod online because in the UK we use ADSL it seems we have quite different issues to North Americans.  Even with the latest patch I get in 1 in 5 Pantheon games because there will be someone who can't connect.  And I'm extremely tech savvy and have tried everything.

The download is about 2GB.

It's a great game but don't rely on any more patches sorting connectivity issues because they have stopped concentrating on that now.

If it helps though Stardock do a good refund policy so you need not be worried about wasting your money, so give it a try.

Thanks for the advice

2gb isn't too bad :)

I hope the single player game is fun in case the online section is too hard to manage in Australia

As far as i know there are some australian players, so you should be able to play with them without problem.

The single player is basically a skirmish mode, the game is  multiplayer centered, you will have fun for some time in solo but sooner or later you will want to play against real players.

Since you are in Australia, you should probably look for or host games with AUS in title. A good name is ex. "AUS 3v3/4v4 Free kittens!" or something to that effect. You will naturally have a harder time finding a game than your US/EU counterparts, but I see AUS games around. You can also play on US servers, but expect to be ping kicked by people who was apparently unaware pings go over two digits.

256kbit is the minimum upload for 5v5, so it looks like you are right on the edge. But 5v5 AUS games are fairly rare in any case. Bandwidth requirements scale down with less players naturally, so try to see which games your ping remains stable at. If it fluctuates greatly, it's a good sign that your band is too narrow.

Try my thread HERE for $20 Demigod coupons. All coupons expire 0400 GMT on the 30th, so be quick.

Thanks again for the advice.

I'm only playing single player at the moment - just to get a clue how to play.  having a wild time though - this game is much faster paced than similar games i've played.

Yeah you should be able to find games between around 6-12 each evening for australians (I'm one). Playing games hosted in west US should be fine, I do and it is sometimes better because they have more stable connection.

http://www.speedtest.net/ you can try this site to test your connect speed.

Hope that helps.
