Demigod Paragon - Planescape Torment

It was nagging at me a bit that I converted to Demigod in the blink of an eye ... I usually don't buy games on impulse - er, I mean "on a whim".

But with Demigod I did and now I think I know why: The setting is the spitting image of one of my all time favorite PC roleplaying game: Planescape Torment

See the trailer and you'll know what I mean.

The gameplay is quite different, of course, but the spells in planescape are about as graphically detailed as the ones in Demigod (given the technical possibilities of that time).

I have to say I don't see what you are talking about and perhaps  feel this is an attempt to introduce the masses here to Planescape:Torment?

However as Torment is still my favourite game of all time(fantastic story music atmosphere, great gameplay) I heartily approve anytime it is brought up, whatever the reason.  While you are correct in saying the graphics are ouutdated now, at the time they were nerdgasm inducing, and the big spell videos clips are still satisfying today!

Torment has about as much in common with demigod as apples do with oranges.

That's right !

Both are fruit, taste very sweet, grow on trees, are common in the mediterran , make excellent juice, are healthy and are shipped worldwide because they are popular everywhere.

Actually, I kind of agree.  To me, it looks like similar art directions.

cept the fact that planescape torment is one of the best rpg's ever, even with its subpar combat!

Combat was irrelevant to its awesomeness.

Good idea, too.

The thing that annoys me, is I can never find a copy of PlaneScape... so I missed out totally on what appears to have been a pretty good game :(

They don't exist anymore dude.  Just get the super awesome deluxe version online.  It's what I had to do with Baldur's Gate (I missed out on it back in the day)

The modders have put together versions and bundles far superior to that of the original game, and they've fixed so much more.  Don't feel guilty in the slightest.  Is it even illegal if a game has long gone out of print and the company who developed it no longer exists?

You aren't missing out on a pretty good game, you're missing out on the 2nd best RPG of all time.

Okay, now you've got me curious. What could possibly be better?

Some guys even made a Neverwinter Nights 2 campaign in the Planescape Universe. Never got to it, though.

And Planescape Torment is sadly on no abandonware site I know for download, although you can still it quite easily elsewhere.

And while searching I also discovered that there are community fix packs that even activate formerly disabled content from the game, plus numerous bugfixes .... I think I'm gonna try it again should I ever get myself a respite from Demigod. :)

See the modpacks here: http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=35985

Mmm Planescape: Torment.

It was a lucky coincidence that it came out roughly around the same day that my birthday hit.

One of the best impulse (hur hur) birthday buys ever. EVAR.

What super awesome deluxe version?

There were super awesome deluxe versions of BG1 and 2 the last time I got them.  I assume there is one for Torment as well. (That includes the best fan fixes and mods)

If you search the usual places the super awesome deluxe versions are the ones with the most seeds.
