Strangest connection problem I've ever seen

My brother was playing Demigod fine online until the latest patch came out. Now he can't join an online game. He can login just fine and get to the list of custom games being hosted, but he cannot connect. I am on the exact same router as he is, and I can still play DG just fine. He took his computer to a different computer lab and could then connect to custom games just fine. If I host a custom game while we are using the same router, we can connect. The problem doesn't seem to be the router because I can connect to DG. It doesn't seem to be his computer because he can connect on other networks. We can connect to each other on custom games. He has forwarded ports, but that hasn't worked. He has turned off his firewall. No success. I'm absolutely stumped. :/

My router is a netgear WGR614. My ISP is SBCglobal.
