Newb Training?

A number of posts here on the subject of dealing with Newb players (and I'm only just getting out of that category myself) made me think it might be good to have some Newb "training games". Make then 2v3, 3v4, 3v5 with a 1 or 2 good players on the weaker side and it would still be fun. At least I reckon I'd enjoy it.

What does anyone else think?

I think the games you were looking at were the testing games I did with my friend vs some AI. We did a lot of testing.... x_x

I have this thing, were I have to have a really good idea of what I'm doing before I play with people.

Oh, I do the same when I'm alone. But it was with my buddy and we didn't feel like whipping out Himachi.

I like this idea. I know I could definitely benefit from some guidance other than "OMG U SUK".

A couple times I've been in games and it must have been pretty obvious I had no idea what I was doing, but people have offered a tip or two in a mostly constructive manner. More often than not though there's only silence, or if I'm on a team with a "pro" I'll get the "OMG" type responses.. lol.

It'd also be nice to find some sort of "Newbie Guide". Maybe there's one out there, but I haven't found it yet. I've found guides for specific characters which can help a lot, but a more general guide would be great.

My two greatest hurdles are that I just can't seem to get myself to run away in time and that I also like to play a bit of this and a bit of that. I get so focused on "Oh he's so close to dying!!" that I don't notice someone teleporting in to finish me off or I stupidly get too close to their tower or something. Trust me, I have a permanent mark on my forehead from me slapping it. And I like all the different DGs and like to try new things, so I haven't given myself time to really learn one character before trying another.

What's funny though is that I just hosted a newbies welcome game.  Had a few noobs in it.  My team was winning so I was typing a lot trying to help the other guys, give advice on builds or strat.  2 of them still quit.  How do you expect to get better if you won't even stay around to get advice to get better?  I give up.

Yeah that is a bit silly. Although the ones that quit could have actually been "pro" players that maybe aren't as "pro" as they thought and their egos couldn't handle it, or maybe there was a connection issue. I like the first scenario better though... hehehe.

In my experience you can't turn a noob into a pro, your either born a pro or born a noob, or born in the middle somewhere.  You can get better but a noob isn't gonna be playing with the pros no matter what kind of training or how much they play.  I have a friend whose played hundreds of games of dota but he's still noob as hell, its ridiculous.

U got it right there, however these are the noobs...

In spite, new people, or newbs are the players who deserve a chance to become better.

My opinion is to let new players play in "pros games".. Just wait a bit till 2 new players join for the game to be balanced.

Or some other player wouldn't mind playing alongside with a new player and guide them throughout the game..

AND,

At least everyone should give a proper excuse before kicking anyone.
