Wow, what's with the flood of "OMG cheater" posts? Listen here folks....

I come onto the Demigod forums to get my daily dose of Demigod news and community interaction when I see atleast 4-5 (I think) "Cheater" threads all on top of eachother.

Look.

1. This is a P2P (with extra coding/software thrown in to prevent cheating) game. Any touching of the code causes a desync as not everybody would be using the same code. So right there, a hack couldn't be possible.

2. Over the course of Demigods history so far, players have been getting use to all of the Demigods and their multitudes of abilities and skills. Now that the majority of players (the early adopters) have seen all of the abilities and skills and pretty much know how they like to play, they are now checking the items out In-Depth. Players are now exploring the items and finding new items that suit their playstyles... I'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 of the "OMG cheater" posts are a result of the unknowing player witnessing someone using an item they themselves have not ever used or seen before. EXPLORE THE ITEMS.

So far, there is absolutely no evidence that someone has been cheating (yet). It is inevitable that someone will figure something out and that people will try cheating, however at this point in time, it isn't possible and hasn't happened yet.

Relax before accusing people of cheating and thoroughly explore as many of the items as you can (especially the favor items) before coming into the forums and whining about people who just happened to be more open to exploring the game than you.

Protocept makes a valid point and the first response is a troll....'bout what i expect these days.

Perhaps GPG can make Heaven's Wrath look somewhat different to FoG and maybe we can cut down on some of these posts....

The rest just need to explore the game a little more, before posting on the forums and making an idiot out of yourself, just ask TiduZ, by making ridiculous "cheaterz" claims.

About 1 in 2 games when using the Heaven's Wrath someone will comment wondering what the hell is happening.

1 out of 2 of those games someone will say it's cheating.

And you'll get it every once in a while when you snipe people too.

Neilo, I don't think you understand.  My quote above was from an old counter-strike viral video, probably before your time.  The point of my other post was to parody the upcropping of "omg this guy cheated" posts, to make it over the top silly.  I think I made the mistake of going over your head with it.  My bad.

I am merely saying. I just wanted to make a thread to clear up a lot of peoples misconpetions on the items and game, and how what they are seeing are items and not cheating.

I was also taken back by how many "cheater" threads are going around as I already stated. in my OP. If you look at the big picture, do we as a community really want the misconception of Demigod being easy to hack to float around through word of mouth even if it isn't true? No, of course we don't (well, aside from teh cheaters that is). So I just wanted to throw this out there.

It's because there are so many cheaters out there. I am an awesome pro, but haven't beaten anyone yet. So I can only conclude from this that everyone I have played so far is a cheater.

i didnt mean to aim it at you, other threads like this one: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/354309 is what people who are new to the game see.. which reflects our community towards new/other players.

personally i think the bigger picture of our community is what people see on here or in-game. cheating doesnt stop people from playing a game(imo).

It still looks like a backflip to me...but whatever, i may have missed your humor.

As for Counter Strike which one? I didn't play the Half Life version, i had the C&C version and what would be before your time i guess, i also had the 2D scroller game on the Amiga back in the late 80's early 90's.

Can't say i saw any evidance of "parody" in your post in the other thread, but i'll take your word for it, one less "cheaterz" poster is a good thing. My bad.

Protocep its the same deal with this communities obsession with ragequitters, and like they are something entirely new only to this game and have never seen them before.

 

Really I think its just a product of nerves rubbed raw due to the other connection problems on top of it.
