Rage Quitting Solutions

Rage Quitting Solutions

I think that the most annoying part of this game now is the fact ppl just rage quit even before the game really gets going. I think there needs to be some type of penalty system set up to counter rage quitters.

First, I think that favor needs to be taken away everytime you quit a game. Around 400 or 500 per game would be fine.
Second, I think that we need to have a rating system for ppl that you play so ppl can see who is a rage quitter and whos not.
Third, even if someone leaves, we should be allowed to just quit the game altogether, instead of waiting for 30 secs everytime someone quits...

Any other suggestions on how to stop rage quitters?

Penalizing players is a gaming feat of the past. Gaming today is moving more and more towards rewarding and less penalizing. Some examples off the top of my head are Bioshock, Braid, Prince of Persia..you can't even really die anymore in those games. And they are good games. This has been said before, and I'm not the first person to bring it up. I'm sure the execs at Stardock and GPG understand this pyschology as well so they're definitely not going to penalize players for not playing as it is counter-intuitive towards making sales.

If it frustrates you so much, perhaps you are simply putting too much weight in a game and need a change of perspective.

After all..  I can't quit my job

I can't quit my wife

I can't quit my rent

I can't quit my bills

But I sure as hell can quit a game of Demigod. I paid 40 bucks to d/l and play the game .. on my terms. So if I'm bored of being on a team with noobs.. I'll go find another game. If we've clearly lost and I can't even walk out of my base.. I'll go find another game. If I'm simply not having fun and want to do something else.. I'll quit the game.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong or right about it. There's nothing noble about hanging in there either. I understand your need to crush a human opponent; it is satisfying. But really.. kicking their butt till they quit should be an indication of victory and provide that satisfaction. And yeah, sometimes that first kill is so frustrating/humiliating/heartbreaking that one wants to quit. We've all been there.

Again, it's a perspective issue. If they're not having fun, what do they owe you to stick around and let you satsify your sadistic urges? They bought the game to enjoy just like you did. It's selfish to think that the online community is your slave once you buy this game and they have to dance to your tune.

Just take the game for what it is: an online game. You have to deal with other human beings. They are just as ugly, horrible, and wonderful as in real life.

I can't even get home from work without 10 people cutting me off on the freeway (yeah I live in LA) and nearly killing me. Having someone leave a game after I beat them doesn't seem like such a big deal.

Edit: Just read in 1.1 they are in fact going to penalize rage quitters; tracking disconnects and displaying in lobby. Guess I was wrong. Now I'll have to afk and do something else instead.. until they come up with afk% yikes. This will turn into WoW AV soon.

Andi I completely agree with the fact that yes you own the game and therefore u can quit. But all the senarios u are talking about are fine with me. I just don't like it when people quit after 1 or 2 deaths and its at the beginning of the game and u still don't know what's going to happen. Also if you are going to quit, at least acknowledge that u are leaving before "rage quitting" I would just be happy with that.

Anyway I liked the suggestion about a list that u can access urself with names of people u suspect that rage quits for future reference. If stardock can give us a game history where we can put people on this personal "ban list" that would work for me as of right now til we can find a better solution. I can't just go into notepad or my game would crash. Something like this would help me greatly in filling up my games.

Reading this makes me laugh every time... It's funny because it's true. Then it's sad.
