General builds without minions

I think all generals should have the chance to have good builds without minions. You would then focus on things an assassin would focus on.

I don't like the looks and skills of most of the assassins, but I enjoy playing generals like Sedna, or Lord Erebus. I think you should be able to play them without minions. So instead of buying priests and so early on, you'd buy armours and the like and still be good. Just in a different way.  The skills you'd level wouldn't be the usual yetis or nightcrawlers, but the passive, attack and so on.

I've played with these builds before and they were quite effective. With Erebus anyways. Sedna still deserves a buff I think.

But I hope I'm not the only person thinking like this.

Not at all. I like to play Oak at times, and although i don't use a total non minion build, i get the spirits still, i leave the rest alone and build him like an assassin.

Can't say i have had tremendous success with this, but it is fun nonetheless.

(i havent had tremendous success with any Oak build tho either.... :P )

Well it's good to hear. I do hope they will boost the General played as assassin builds.

I play Sedna and Oak a lot and while I wouldn't pass up on Oaks spirits (in a build that is otherwise more assassin than anything), Sedna works really well as an assassin.

I'd actually go sofar to say (and I believe many/most Sedna players agree) that it's her minion build that is too weak.

The only minions you shouldn't pass up on as assassin-Sedna is her priests, which heal a large percentage of her hp when combined with Healing Wind II.

Sedna is the only General who can live without her minions. They're just.... really... not great. Every time you play a general WITHOUT Priest totem minions you are passing up free healing and that's just stunting yourself.

Most people seem to play Oak as an assassin, although usually people do take priest minions. But the skill build is usually heavy on assassin skills like Penitence and Shield, rather than Spirit Ward, Morale etc

Personally, I tend to start out as an assassin Oak to increase survivability early game and migrate to a general by the mid to late game when I've got better gear.

I don't play with minions at all with most of the generals. Preists with Sedna are really the only reasonably non-optional minion choice.
