Is simspeed affected by bandwidth / connections to other players?

I just played a leviathan gave 4v4 and my simpseed would spike from +4 to -1 for no apparent reason. I have played hundreds of games, and i have only had issues a  handful of times.. even mandalla im +3-4.

I have 2 gigs of dual channel 800mhz ram, 3.0 ghz dual core, 8800GT 512mb

What doesnt make sense to me is that my brother has a setup of 2.0ghz dual core, 2 gigs 400mhz dual channel, and a 8800GTS 640mb, we both run the game at same medium settings and 1240x1024 resolution. HE ALWAYS HAS +2 MORE SIMSPEED THEN ME.

It shouldn't, it just tells you how many game cycles your system can compute during one game cycle. It should'nt be influenced by your connection.

You should take a look at your audio drivers, a few people had very nice systems, but outdated audio drivers that would give them negative Sim Speed.

agreed. When playing multiplayer, i play with GFX low and sound low qual and I had a simspeed of like, 4. Then I updated audio drivers and at same settings run at sim speed 7ish. And I have a 8600 GT and onboard sound :)

And even running low GFX, I have no graphical issues, when playing single player I put max GFX, there is noticable difference. but nothing to be missed.

Oh, I also run 3.0 ghz dual core, but I also have 4gigs of RAM :/ not sure if that'll help you at all.

The latest driver for Soundmax on m2n32-sli deluxe board is a little confusing. I think i might already have the latest, mabye demigod just hates my sound driver.
