We are here to help!

We are here to help!

With v1.01 out, the Demigod connectivity issues are pretty much behind us.

What? You say you're having a problem connecting to people online? We're here to help you.

First, make sure you are doing this:

1. Open ports 6112 to 6200 on your router and point them to the PC IP address you're playing on.  This isn't generally necessary but it can help.

2. Make sure you don't have some firewall blocking out Demigod. Some router firewalls prevent UDP traffic from getting through.

3. Have you tried the parameter /serverproxyonly in the Demigod shortcut as a parameter? This will have us host your connection for you.

4. Make sure you don't have a firewall or packet blocker on your own machine as they are designed to block p2p connections.

Now, if you are still having problems, let's walk through what we need:

#1 Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

#2 What brand and make of router are you using?

#3 What kind of connection do you have? Cable Modem? DSL? ISDN? ADSL? VDSL? Something else?

#4 Post your impulsereactor.log file in your comment. It's in your my documents\my games\gas powered games\demigod directory.

#5 Describe clearly and specifically what problem you are having. What were you trying to do? What did you see on the screen? What did the connectivity dialog say? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

Thanks!

You know, I'm not exactly sure the game is worth the hassle to get it up and running.  Every other online game I have, warcraft 3, WoW, City of Heroes, NWN2, etc. all worked properly without me having to 'change' things.  Why wouldn't Demigod have come set up to work on the vast majority of computers without problems?   Obviously connection issues have been a problem since day 1 and then with the release of 1.1 the problems are still there.

I don't even know how to check some of the suggestions above.  I'm not too technical and i didn't buy this game so i could learn about online networking.  I just want the god damn game to work

I was trying to join a game on custom and was connection to the players, when suddenly the game errored and shut down.  This was the message window that came up:

1. done

2. done

3. done but the problem described below stays

4. done

#1. Alice (German Internet provider )

#2. Sitecom Wl-174 not using W-LAN just straight cable ( connected to 2 Pc`s , girlfriend`s and mine )

#3. ADSL

#4. http://paste-it.net/public/jd9a761/

#5. Since the update my problem got bigger which means i disconnect EVERY game i play. It was there before but randomly..

Ok the problem is my 2 PC`s are connected through the sitecom router via cable to the Internet. I can connect fine to any player, game starts fine too, but after some time my Inet connection suddenly closes ( the other pc stays online however ) and the game freezes and i have to reboot to get my inet connection back. i completely loose control of all possibilities to get back online again without rebooting my pc.

My wife and I are both on wired connections behind the same router, both using Vista 64, with Comodo firewall (set to treat Demigod as a trusted app) with windows firewall disabled. Neither of us has hamachi, necond NICs, or any VPN or psuedoadpter installed as far as I can tell. Neither of us can connect to each other when we try to host LAN games (the person looking to join never sees the hosts lobby listed in the LAN game browser). We try after every patch and it never works. The only way we can seem to play together is the custom internet game (everything else seems to be a totally random matchmaking system?). I prefer the internet game since our games mean favor points going to our online accounts, but sometimes roadrunner goes down and we still want to play.

1. Open ports 6112 to 6200 on your router and point them to the PC IP address you're playing on.  This isn't generally necessary but it can help.

Done

2. Make sure you don't have some firewall blocking out Demigod. Some router firewalls prevent UDP traffic from getting through.

Done

3. Have you tried the parameter /serverproxyonly in the Demigod shortcut as a parameter? This will have us host your connection for you.

Yes

4. Make sure you don't have a firewall or packet blocker on your own machine as they are designed to block p2p connections.

Now, if you are still having problems, let's walk through what we need:

Don't

#1 Who is your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

Rogers Cable

#2 What brand and make of router are you using?

D-Link DIR-655

#3 What kind of connection do you have? Cable Modem? DSL? ISDN? ADSL? VDSL? Something else?

Cable

#4 Post your impulsereactor.log file in your comment. It's in your my documents\my games\gas powered games\demigod directory.

I've tried a couple more times and there is always the common line near the end of the log when it fails:

[07-17-2009 11:46:04 646] Ready to try and connect.
[07-17-2009 11:46:04 646] CVPOnPlayerDataUpdatedCallback

You are not authorized to make this request

#5 Describe clearly and specifically what problem you are having. What were you trying to do? What did you see on the screen? What did the connectivity dialog say? The more information we have, the better we can help you.

I have no problems finding games and connecting. Pings look fine in lobby. Once I connect my pings spike into the thousands.  Everyone yells at me. It makes me feel bad.

I have great connections with other multiplayer games. Just tested with team fortress 2 32 player match and my ping stayed below 50.

I have had the odd successful match, but recently no luck at all.

After trying a few matches after opening ports etc. people are now saying to kick me and won't let me in any games. Hopefully once you figure out what's wrong I can direct them to this thread to exonerate myself :P

BTW, I am a computer engineer with networking experience, and recently sent in my resume, If you need some extra help with this look me up :P

I found that port forwarding '6073' for UDP through fixed my problem. You should update the intro to include this when you mention port forwarding!

EDIT:

I can only play pantheon games. I just tried a custom game and again I got bitched out because my ping spikes to 3000+. Something horrible is happening, as all internet apps fail when this happens. MSN gets disconnected, my streaming music stops, websites don't respond. These things all work fine while playing with sub 50ms ping when I do a pantheon game. My connection and computer are top of the line.

BTW, can I get some sort of acknowledgement that someone is looking into this? It's pretty frustrating to have bought non-functioning software.

Cannot connect to Network Address Facilitator when trying to play custum internet games, Connection Data says 'waiting for connection data'. Getting these problems since I started using this PC on a student-flat internet connection, hereby I do not have full router controll. My bet is that it's the routing in the flat, please fix or advise what to tell the network guys here. Thnx!

E/ Proxyserver trick does not work, also tried in combination with fully shut down firewalls. Running Windows Vista.

Yes, if you're on a university network it's entirely possible that they outright block traffic on the needed ports. Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about it unless the network admins are feeling generous.

Hi Kryo,

I'll try to email the admins, but what should I ask them to change to try to get this to work?
