Pantheon Premades...

Do the developers have an issue with people "surfing" Pantheon games until they get matched up with their premade partner? 

 

I think this is currently a fairly frustrating issue because Pantheon/Skirmish are the main place to play if you do not want to go against premades.  As was mentioned in another thread, premades go to custom games because it is their "main" options.  However, I have run into more then a few premade teams in Pantheon as well.  This is especially frustrating considering how bug-ridden Pantheon is still, with players randomly dropping from games, netsplits, games starting 2v1, 2v0, 4v0, 3v0, etc etc.

 

This issue is even more severe since when these teams surf, they disrupt these other games they leave quite severely (by making them 2v1, or 2v1+AI (even worse.)

 

I would suggest disabling the connection info box for Pantheon and Skirmish, many other online games do not allow you to see who you are playing with until you are actually loading the game, and are not able to cancel out.  EDIT: To further clarify this, a disable is most likely not completely necessary, essentially anything that would remove the names of the players you are playing with until the game is loading would be quite satisfactory.

 

EDIT 2: I should add, this would also apply to Skirmish.

without a proper clan or rankign system this can only be expected... people play games competitively it's a shame that GPG didn't wait to finish the game before releaseign it or the pro's could happily have their clan games instead of crushing nubs.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is going on.  I had a terrible time getting into a game last evening because every time I started to connect, someone would drop out.  I'm pretty sure this is what they were up to.  (I stop my comment here, not because I have no more to say, but because I wish to remain polite)

No reason to blame the players, its only natural to want to play with your friends.. in an online game.

They can already play in premade games together in custom games, I'm not trying to blame the players.

 

I'm saying that this system screws up Pantheon because people quit out when their buddy isn't in connection.

 

I have no objection to a Pantheon ladder, but as was stated in another thread, leave premades in custom, please.

 

Removing player names from the connection info tab would do prevent this from being an issue.  If you end up with your friend, great, if not, play a game and don't screw people over!

I seriously doubt is an intented feature to check on the connection tab to see if your teamate is playing with you. This is just something the developers didnt thought about before releasing the game.

With that in mind, lets look at the definition of exploit:   Use of an unintended behavior/pattern/bug to get an unfair advantage over people not using said behavior/patern/bug.

If it is intented...for people to join as a group in pantheon by looking at the connection tab then....LOL thats crappy, you could have come up with something a little bit more....elegant?

If it is not intented, then those people are exploiting and should be punished.

Custom Games = Play with friends, Clan games.

If you read the future ideas for stuff like 1.1 patch, they are planning to include playing skirmish/pantheon with friends.

So untill they implement group skirmish/pantheon people will still want to play with their friends. I don't really blame people, multiplayer is less fun with random people, especially when you are paired with a complete noob, lol.

Why not go to custom games with your premade where you are more likely to be matched up against another premade?  Especially if you advertise yourself as such.

The purpose of pantheon is to have a competitive ranked game, that is why you would play pantheon ..eventually.
