3 x 1.8 gig updates in a row?? Whats going on??

Ok, for the past 2 days i have been "asked" by demigod to update my game. This requires me to download a 1.8 gig dl and then install it. Taking the better part of 2 hrs and also my download limit.

I log on today and again it is asking me to download another 1.8 gig patch....

Seriously WHAT IS GOING ON HERE???

I am not some rich bastard that can afford to by bigger and bigger dl limits (here in australia they are quite expensive) and i dont think i should have to patch a game every day just to play the game....

Can i get a response for this please.

1.8 gigs? The updates download and install in a matter of moments for me. There's no way they are 1.8 gigs. The entire game isn't even 3 gigs, installed.

update size is 25mb then 3mb then 23mb

Before installing the current installation is checked to see what to replace by new files. It looks like somehow that Impulse thinks you're files has been changed after installation. My guess is that even if you verify you're installation it will be replaced by new files.

Maybe a Anti virus is altering you're file dates or something like that?

my anti virus changing my files? that seems dubious.

If i could get some offical answer as to how to prevent this (or even unoffical) i would be much appreciative.

Pretty much what the others have said. Impulse does incremental updates based on file dates/hashes, so the only reason it might completely redownload the game is if the files are missing or it does not recognize the installed versions for some reason. Might there be some reason Impulse can't write the current version to your registry?

If you create a filelist of for instance the bin folder then we can compare the date time and sizes

how do i do this? why do i have to do this? In my last 1.8 gig update i verified my game and it said it was installed correctly.

From having issues with it not working with my logitec webcam to this. if i cant get this fixed within a week then im giving up.

its probably an impulse problem, did you try uninstalling and downloading impulse again, then use "detect application" to attach your demigod installation

Yep I emailed support and this is what they told me to try. (Which didn't work... and i am waiting for the next thing to try.) -------------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

1.88GB is the entire game download size; something is Impulse may be reporting incorrectly, and it is redownloading the entire game with each update for you. I would suggest uninstalling Impulse, rebooting your PC, and then reinstalling from the latest installer build here:

http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

Then, before loading Demigod again, delete the file 'Game.prefs' which is located here:

YOUR USERNAME\My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

It's weird, but all your files are a day older than mine? How could that be? Some time zone stuff? The time is correct however....

That day would explain why it want to download all stuff again and again

I am in australia, which may be the reason that it is on a different day.

Though i dont see how this means anything.

If the time is different from expected then the who stuff will be redownloaded over and over again. You should find out why the day is set differently

I'm not sure why the timestamps would be getting changed to local time (they should be fixed regardless of the machine's locality), but that might be part of the problem. Your best bet would be to pass this info back to support. It may give them some better idea as to what the issue could be.
