The disconnection stat is not a rage quit counter...

...it's proof of just how poor a beta state this game is in!

Disregarding the fact that the number of disconnections counter on my profile page doesn't count up properly (another broken thing), it doesn't show the truth behind why I disconnected:

20% of the time I get an unhandled exception which crashes the game.

20% of the time I loose connections to another player and get booted (1.01 might fix this, I don't know).

60% of the time, another player crashes, looses connection or rage quits, making another player quit, and then another, and another...

...do you see the evil circle here?

I consider myself lucky if I'm able to finish an online game at all!

There should be a stat that shows when demigod crashes lol.. that would be funny to see people with 3/10 games played where demigod.. just crashed.

i havent got any crash from yesterday!it's very nice now, before this i was crashed 10 times/day or even more...

When a game is started i rarely get a crash. Most of the crashes i hear about are alt-tab actions gone wrong.

I have however occasual video driver crashes. But i'm playing windowed so i can alt-tab and those video drver crashes are restored by the driver. Only effect is some lag when the driver is restored.

People who get crashes should try playing windowed then it is easier to see what is causing the problems

Sounds like something on your end is dodgy. I get nowhere near that kind of failrate. 1 crash in a month and since the direct connect patch disconnects are rare.

Ragequit or troubles with the game are the same. You are destroying the fun of others and I don't want you in my games. Fix it, then you can start getting a better disconnect stat.

Since the last patch, I'd like to revise the numbers:

10% of the time, I get an unhandled exception.

10% of the time I get a "desync detected".

80% of the time, someone quits/crashes, and then another player quits...

...after that another player quits...

...after that another player quits...

...after that another player quits...

...after that another player quits...

And then you get things like this:

I do not blame the players.

I blame the game 100%.

Fix your errors and you wont have to worry about it

Definitely not.

I see this issue as well:

- Half of my games are 2v1+ai which I usually quit because a slow lose isn't fun at all.

- Ragequiters often create connection error cascades (=>kills the game) and ragerquiters are a reason to stop a game on their own (=>imbalance 2v1+ai)

- Best reason to quit: The game is unplayable... Had this in a few games: The game reacts (due to lag?) not under 3 seconds which is stripping the game of all its fun. Every Hammerslam hits you etc.

And I would say all these are problems which come from game/developer side.

They could be solved and if they are solved a disconnect stat might be viable.

Now it isn't.

To be perfectly honest, a host that is trying to get a good game going with no leavers is unlikely to care about the reasons you've been disconnected for.  As a host, all he cares about is that you have a history of getting disconnected from games (be it from rage quits, flaky ISP, exceptions, etc).  This makes you a risky person to allow to play.

With that said, I definately feel there should be a way to let your disconnections counter "decay".  Over time it should go down naturally just incase you've actually fixed your connections issues and are now a stable player.

that could work

Looking around in pantheon.demigodthegame.com, it seems the great majority of players have a large number of disconnects on their record. This makes it almost impossible to be choosey concerning disconnectiveness. (It's a good word even if I just made it up.)

Most of my crashes happen in 3 places:

1. In the lobby, an unhandled exception appears behind the game.  Sometimes you don't even know it's there because the game doesn't die right away and you can even still chat with people.  Usually I say "Unhandled exception, brb" then let the game die, restart it and rejoin the same game.  Works the next time!  Happens maybe 10% of the time I join a lobby

2. Simply attempting to join a game may lead to complete freezing.  You double click a game on the list, nothing happens, and the game is done.  Usually you can kill off the game in this case.  Restart again and you're back in business.

3. After a game starts and on the loading screen the game will often freeze at "Waiting for Players."  This freeze is total and standard alt-tab/contraltdel/Windowskey will not wrest control from Demigod.  I don't know what happens to everyone else in the game under these circumstances.  This happens maybe 10% of the time.

It doesn't matter if you rage quit or get booted, I still don't want you in my matches if you don't stay to the end of the match.

Sorry.
