EU/GER/US East/West/Midwest, etc.

Most custom games have one of these tags associated with them.  My question is: Do most people also expect the word "only" to be understood?  I'm in the US east catagory, and I feel no problem joining anything in the US.  I avoid GER or FR tags because I don't speak those languages.  But what about EU?  Do you europeans want all us US folks to stay out, or is it ok to join?

As long as you have <350 stable ping, i don't think it's a problem. And everyone knows english, so why not...

I ignore those to be honest.  Usualy it doesnt matter, as most people have a ping under 350, and language tends to no be an issue either.

Now the ones with <100ping in the title, I join those every time, just to point out that those hosts have no clue what ping is and how the connections work. To me putting <100ping in the game name just shows that you are ignorant.

FYI I know some people (mainly in the pacific I think) were having connecting to people in foeign areas, hench the need to only have players form their area.

I join any game I think looks good, and small talk for a bit and leave the game on amicable terms if my ping is high. I've had good ping with euro players, so I join just to see if i get lucky. If not, I small talk for a bit until their game looks like it's filling up, then say goodbye and leave so they can fill their slots and play their game.

I just try to avoid FR/RUS/GER etc because often they don't speak English which is a pretty big problem, I don't think most people putting it in the name are going for that country only, it's just so people to get an idea of ping before joining.

Also if I want to join a game with other people from the EU instead of US players I have to restart Demigod without /serverproxyonly unless I want to play with 350 ping to everyone, so having it in the game name helps me out a bit .

I've actually noticed most of the custom games have 'US <location>', I rarely ever see anything else posted. But what really annoys me is that i have a ping of around 250 stable, when I connect to US games, and i've ALWAYS been booted because apparently it's too high. Having said that, i'm guessing the tag is up to let people know what connections are likely to be like, not to ward off players.

For me the cutoff has always been 300 ping, I couldn't care less about location.  I'll give 350 a try though if you guys say it plays smoothly enough.

I'll also give more euro games a try.  I'd love to practice my german if it's not too annoying.

I put EU in front of my games too, but I don't mean it as "EU only". It should serve as an indication for other players to guess what their ping will be to the players in the game, prior to joining. There is nothing wrong with someone from US east joining an EU game for example.

Aye I reckon it's more a location thing. You could always join and ask them if you can stay if your ping is okay.

Avoid FR, they are bastards to everyone not french, RUS generally can't speak a word of english and GER are cool guys but they will keep speaking german so if you don't understand then you're screwed :p

Thank you very much! :)

I will always chat in English unless I'm absolutely sure all players are from Germany. Coming to think of it, I played several games with all GER players and we chatted in English. If in doubt, join and ask your teammates if they are willing to chat in English.
