k1 Excellent idea. Lets hope GPG takes notices so this can become a standard.

@Whackhead, what is the GPG DG page?

I think he is referring to the forums.gaspowered.com site

i think ill wait till this becomes a standard before having  no offense to the modders but i  dont like shoving things on games last time i  did it i had to spend hours changing little things to make it work

so not overly conferdent about mods

You can use pretty much anything Bman puts out there. Never had any problem with any of his mods, even in other games.

I thik he knows this, what he wants to know is would this be possible.

I guess my statement could be read ambiguously. You cannot make a UI mod to see the enemy's data. You only have access to certain data, and the enemy's mana is not part of that data (unless GPG changes/changed the data to include that).

chirmaya is right unfortunatly   but i woulbn't want to be able to see there mana it takes all the fun out off bluffing ur aponant into falling back

I agree, i don't want to see his mana. This is not exactly Dota.

This. I've bluffed an enemy out of a lane more than a few times.

Yea. Seeing the enemies mana would really mess gameplay up :)

you guys got frogboy's attention over here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/355935.  Great work on this bman!  I think the community would love if this or something extremely like this gets added to the game officially.  Brilliant!

not a problem with the mod itself.  looks like you did not extract dgdata.zip properly and name the extracted folder properly or the mod manager was not installed properly.  the errors you are getting are long before my mod is even used by the game.  maybe post the steps you did to set things up so we can diagnose it?

Personally I'd love to see the black made transparent if that's possible and a bit of fade of the boxes, but regardless I'd be ecstatic if this were put in game.

thx bman. Yeah i didn't see anything in the instructions about unpacking the dgdata.zip. Only saw renaming it. Unpacking it worked.

Thank you

I haven't had a chance to try this out, but it sounds and looks great.

Two quick suggestions:

  (1) would it be possible to add minion mini-portraits?  I'm thinking maybe some small boxes with just icons and health bars, on the left-hand side of the screen, sorted by type.

  (2) would it be possible to have similar portraits for visible enemies?  Obviously they wouldn't show mana, and they'd gray out or something when the enemy went into the fog.

So this can only be used if other players are also using it?  Or can I instal this then jump in a custom game with randoms and see my teamates bars?

See now I REALLY would like something for minions, but I think it'd only really work for idol summons, because Generals like Erebus and Oak have out like 10+ minions near end-game. There's no space on the screen for health bars for that many without making it overly cluttered.

yeah putting minions out there gets kinda crazy UI-wise.  I think a good compromise might be to just display the NUMBER of each minion type you have out there inside the skill button or something so you know when you need to summon new ones.  I find that knowing how many I have is much more important than knowing their health--its not like I'm gonna waste a heal spell on them!

P.S. Has anyone actually tried this in a MP game with some others?  It works great for SP but there's always a chance it will crap out if the info available is different in an MP game.  If anyone is online late in the US I wouldn't mind testing this.

Great job bman! This will be especially helpful for when I play Sedna. Minion health would be cool to see, with an option to minimize or turn off certain types of minions (like Erebus nightwalkers). This would keep clutter down while still showing character-specific minion health for Sedna and QoT.

It depends how big the health bars are.  I was thinking about something like the Sins Empire Tree, which can comfortably fit a few dozen units on the side of the screen.  They each have really small health bars (probably 20-40 pixels across?), but it's enough to get a quick overview of the condition of your army.  It would be particularly handy in games where you're using the "heal all my minions at once" items, so you could time the effect properly.

I do have one question: where do the buff/debuff icons go?

above the team panel.

Did anyone mention whether this can be used in random customs or only where everyone uses the mismatch option?  Its a little confusing from the original post, is this just for friends who are all coordinated and have the proper switchs or donwloaded this already, or would it work in a random game?

won't work unless all players in the game have the command-line switch.  this of course is hard to coordinate with random customs and/or pantheon games.  Sadly, 'tis what ultimately makes this game hostile to modding even though the game files are easy to mod. :'(
