[TB] Trouble with Generals with Priest Minion

I have huge troubles with Generals that get early Priests minions when I play with my Torch Bearer. I try to play conservitive and run when I'm low, but the Priest kinda negate any harassment damage I do to them. I then have trouble farming creeps in the lanes around them. They are able to chase me away. Plus, sometimes I'll stick it out to try and kill them, and their Priests will pop out a clutch heal at the right moment and I die. Making me look like the newb feeding them kills.

So far it's just been against Sedena and Oak in Pantheon matches as my TB. I go for a standard Hybrid build.

Against Generals, I usually engage them in Frost.  I start out with a Rain of Ice to cut out whatever I can (priest minions, creeps, etc.).  Then I immediately pop into Fire and unload all I have.  By now, they're below half health, although I'm out of spells to sling for the moment.  Many will turn tail and run when they see their health bar going down that quickly, but most Oaks and Sednas will charge in.  Usually, all you can do is go Frost and let Permafrost slow 'em down or (if you have it, my build doesn't) Frostnova, then retreat.  If you're by a flag, try to lock it real fast before your swift exit.

With such generals, it's best to farm faster than them and stay out of their way for a few levels, imo. You'll have to go into an assist mode, backing up the pushes of your teammates. Frost is best, especially with Frost Nova, because it takes the minions out of play for 10 seconds with 3 points in the skill.

The other option is attempt to get a parasite egg, although I've never actually tried this myself. In theory, you should be able to take out their minions fairly quickly with a fireball, fire nova, and rain of ice, as their minions will take double damage. Most generals are pretty bad when it comes to summoning priests in battle, and if they do, in theory you can stop them with a Deep Freeze. Of course you'd have to mess around with builds to see what works, always tailor your builds to what your enemies are doing.

Well those don't really address my early game issues, but Parasitie Egg is worth a try late game.

So pretty much just stay out of their lane completely? Like I said I tried to play conservitive but they were doing a good job of chasing me away.

AoE Damage all the way, any effect that 'knocks away weaker units' will insta-kill a priest, and I *think* that works for idol priests too.

Early game, don't get too worked up about it. Here's a biggie:

ALWAYS focus kill the enemy priests UNITL you see the enemy summon them in battle.  If they are using the 'cheese' tactic of buying/sumon/sell then this will get rid of them for good.

Lastly: Parasite egg is all kinds of good.  I have actually been very surprised by this. The item is a good deal of a damage boost by itself, and it does whipe the walls with a minion specced general.

If you're playing against Sedna always use frost, fire build TB's bring a smile to my face when I'm playing Sedna, as heal will negate fireball quite happily and I can generally interrupt nova with pounce. Circle of fire doesn't do enough damage since passive regen on Sedna is generally pretty high.

On the other hand, by using deep freeze/rain of ice/ ice nova you can stop Sedna from healing, freeze the pesky priest minions and also slow her so she can't run after she takes that handy shatter dmaage.. Rain and freeze dont have large cast times so she won't be able to interrupt very often.

Health stacking will also piss a Sedna player off, since they have very low dmg apart from pounce, and if they spam that early in combat they are liable to get beaten up since they used their cheap interrupt.

Late Late game a parasite egg with RoI is an instakill on every minion, not that it helps you with your early game issues.  Honestly I would just be content with tagging mobs for gold and leveling up without flag control until you get the capacity to really pressure them.

don't rely on frost nova too much, because restorative scroll will turn you inside out.

Or just as you should be doing first few levels, lay down aoe and pretty much ignore the enemy DG.  You shouldn't ever be getting out when low, you should be getting out when being hit at all.  Just hug your towers and ride the waves of creeps to keep levelling.  You're range, land opportunistic blows but never engage if that will cause you being pushed out of the lane.

And duying early even if the reason was a heal from a minion, is a noob thing to do.  You should never ever be getting into a blow by blow trade early.  Control and pursuing goals is the name of the game, not rushing in head first.

People actually use those? I was under the impression they didn't, since it didn't work on Demigods.

It does not.

I find that when playing TB that you just have to put up with little flag control for the first few levels. In the beginning you don't have enough mana or spells to effectively push out some DGs. I find that the only a few specs can fully drive me from a lane though. Most of the time I just hang back, and then dart forward to AoE the creep wave, and try to aim it to also hit any nearby DG's/minions/towers if I can. I try to avoid going toe-to-toe though, and start running early and often until they turn back and I can then go back to harassing them.

Later on, Rain of Ice + Fire Nova shreds through minions like no one's business. While starting as a great farmer, and a good auto-attacker (be sure to switch forms for the boost.), part of playing TB is accepting that you don't really come into your own until the beginning of the mid-game. Until then just dance around the generals, get pot-shots in if you can, and focus on the creeps.

this. if you see someone has minions right off the bat, aim them first before the demigod
