Demigod 1.1 - Continued discussion from Frogboy's Dev Journal

Several of us have suggested that the dev journals be locked down after posts are made.  One of the reasons this was suggested was to minimize the flaming over technical issues and complaints filling up several pages... which at least I felt would logically lead to the dev's not being as forthcoming and sharing all the behind the scenes info with us.  Anyway, I came across my first locked dev journal today, so it looks like perhaps they are trying out that route.  So, here is a thread to hopefully continue the discussion on version 1.1 that Frogboy touched upon.  His entire post can be found here:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/355890.

I have in my hands a release candidate from Gas Powered Games for v1.1.

Here are a few things we are looking for in v1.1

  • Team concede.  If it looks like you’re going to lose, your team and vote to concede and end the game so you can go to the next.
  • Speed debuffs have a minimum move speed now.
  • Better chat handling for better visibility
  • When you sell a minion idol, existing units are destroyed.
  • Updated computer AI
  • Random Demigod option
  • Bunch of other tweaks, fixes, enhancements.

High on our list is the handling of replays.

Let me go ahead and add:

  • Random Demigod selection: Choose Random assassin, random general or just random demigod.
  • Based on player request, people finishing the game get 40 extra participation points.
  • Heart of life has been moved to the artifact shop and its cooldown timer has been double. The effect has been increased.
Plus:
  • GPG and Stardock are also looking into what causes some people to just disconnect in a game as well as why in pantheon or skirmish some people still just don't connect (it's far better than it was but still not perfect).
  • GPG and Stardock are still discussing/debating what 2 bonus Demigods should be (in terms of power and scope).
And finally:
  • Friends and Clans updating. The ability to shout out to friends or groups (clans) that you're up for some Demigod action. This won't make it as part of v1.1 but it's on the short list.

Frogboy, you closed the thread right before i had the chance to edit my last post there, full of typos and not working quotes.:'(

Here is the short version of my post there:

  • The concede option needs to be spam-proof. I've recommended some kind of cooldown timer for the vote.
  • I've also asked if the pathfinding issues are addressed in 1.1...
  • I've recommended some threads that you might look into and pass it to GPG, for 1.1 patch and beyond:
  1. Some ideas for combating rage quitting. (ideas gathered from around the forum)
  2. Some small fixes that are not listed in 1.1 patch.
  • And last, i was asking if SD (or GPG) made some progress on the ping spike issue some players have, players that have good connections, but still can't play above 2v2. More details in my original post there.

And i might add this: Bman's Team Panel Mode Please send it to GPG in order to include it in the next patch. :pout:

Good change IMO.  Still a good item, but double cooldown makes it far less powerful.

Sounds good, but has it increased in cost? The only reason HoL is so great for my oak is cuz it's so cheap.

It should be more expensive, imo. Not by much though...But 4000 gold is too cheap for it's power. It should be available much later in the game...

I don't know why you keep such a big secret on them. Give us some hints, some general ideas please. And maybe we can give some feedback...

Also, no word on the rematch requested option? Is it even doable?

i wholeheartedly support changes the change to Heart of Life. a bit more information would be nice though.

change in cost?

effect increased to what?

still work with Oak's Shield?

Priest Upgrade is game breaking because in 95% of the cases it feeds the enemy team so extremly with gold and xp.

THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

GPG please reduced the Priest Citadell Upgrade so Priest give 33xp (not 50xp) and 15gold (not 33gold) for Priest.

So replays will be a high priority after v1.1 or for v1.1?

Either way im happy you guys have taken it seriously :D

The fixes seem to be moving along at a great speed now, but no word on UI improvements? I have to echo Ghost's suggestion for Bman's UI or something like it to be implemented. ;P

Bman's UI or something like it to be implemented.

100% Agreed.

Thanks for those quick additions Frogboy.  Wow... the changes on the heart of life are going to cause me some pain... hehe... seems like it must be getting a price bump (or it will be the cheapest artifact).  Looks like quite a few good enhancements are being baked in... glad to hear the idol exploit is being resolved... hoping the AI update adds a little more challenge to the little guys.  I'm really glad to see the team concede option added as well.  I've got to agree that UI enhancements would be great, but I'm curious if GPG would just take someone's mod and bake it in or what exactly.

Frogboy - I think the random demigod code might be cool, but I'm not sure regarding its implementation... so, this would work for customs and it would be clear to other players that you are doing random (general, assassin, or either)?  Is it an option that the host of a custom could enable?  I think this could be a really cool thing to add to a pantheon every now and then (where you get a random character on either light or dark).  And yeah... I think we are all curious regarding possible eta.  Any chance we could get a not promised but probable date... or is it still a little too far out?

New maps / new demigods and/or interface changes aren't slated for v1.1 ?

I think it's great that they put Random in, I know so many people ask for it.  But I won't be using it, as I've never played anything but Rook, Reg, and Sedna, so in random, you KNOW I'll get one of the others, and be a total noob at it.

I know the Concede button is needed, I'm just a little concerened how it's going to play out (pun intended) in a game.  Will Rage Quiters become Concede spammers and AFK pouters now.  I hope not.

Ya Dead, Bman's Mod is jaw-dropping (for a mod).  He deserves a mod Oscar or something.

I think it's great that they are keeping the 2 new DGs a secret; look at all the interest it's already sparking.  Besides, if they told us details about them, you know what would happen: complaints and "yelled suggestions" about how they'd be bad or how they are going to be OP, or how to make them "my way" or else.

Could you tell me more about the UI changes you want to see?

Has someone already made a mod?

Obviously, if people want to mod the LUA and have us take a look that would make things easier to get in.

Frogboy,

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/355788

There's Bman's thread.

The UI changes are centered around being able to see your teammates health and mana. There's another mod mentioned in that thread that allows you to see allies' items as well.

cheers.

Agreed.  Frogboy - please see the link woppin posted above.  Very nice and easy way to see how your teammates are doing.

Although it haven't become a wide spread problem, I suggest some decision to be made toward AFK'ers in game. Especially those who afk the entire game just for favor.

I haven't seen any afkers.  I would think it's a waste of time to afk just to grind favor items.

I've had 2 AFKers, but that's since the game came out. The changes in 1.1 may help things.  Guess we'll see.

Yes FB, Bman's Mod is great, more than a mod if you ask me, but a much needed info-pannel for this game.  But I'm not sure if the mod to let you see all the enimies stats and stuff is fair or not.  Seems a little too intrusive for strategies possbily.

^^ I didn't know there *was* a mod to let you see enemy stats/stuff.  I thought the mana/equip display mod was only if you were hovering over an ally.

In addition to Bman, Chirmaya has made some nice UI mods as well.  This one is a good example: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/353194

The display health bar option ingame (most of you probably don't even know that there is one!) is great, however I would like to have it fixed that the health bar on different zooms is correct. Currently it's often displaying a lower health than it really is.

Additionally, it would be cool if it displays mana as well.
