I doubt it. Some games that support OpelGL work on Linux, but as far as I know Demigod is all DirectX.
You might have some succes using WINE, but you should try that yourself.
You won't be able to patch the game anyway as Impulse runs on the .NET platform and requires IE7 functionality. So even if it did, you couldn't play MP...
Demigod works fine in single player on Linux via wine. (I've tested this.)
I think multiplayer lan can work. (I keep forgetting to test this though.)
I was unable to test Internet multiplayer, because it's updated demanding a patch every time I've tried. Impulse does not work, as it's too caught up in .NET to be usable.
If you've got access to a Windows machine to update it, I think it can work. Or possibly Impulse Anywhere might work for you.
What if you just emulated windows? I have a friend who does that for quite a few games.
Can be done with wine ... http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16363&iTestingId=40011
With virtualization, 3D acceleration has a lot to be desired and after it takes away cpu, ram, video memory is it worth it? You will need a good system.I would hate to think what it would do to your sim speed.
Better off using a dual boot.
I have tried with wine but i have an error with flg . I have a new graphic card ati hd 4890. can u help me, because i am a beginner with ubuntu .
Maybe you use somethink else that ubuntu ??
thx
Has anyone tried Mono then to get Impulse to run? Or does it need a .NET version Mono doesn't support yet?
Why would you not just run it on windows though???
Droopyv you should not try to get Demigod going on Ubuntu unless you know what you are doing. Its to easy to bugger up your distro.
I don't think anyone has been able to get impulse up an running, due to the fact it needs ie7 and .net.
Demigod on Linux is unstable and takes quite a bit of work to get up and running.
Keep a watch on http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=16363&iTestingId=39607
Also talk to the geeks at http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php they might be able to help you out.
I use Linux for everything, but i use windows to play Demigod ![]()
Good luck.
It's actually very easy. Look on winehq, and follow that.
(You'll have to add one thing to you apt repsositories, which is the wine feed for (k)ubuntu.)
For installing wine on (k)ubuntu: http://www.winehq.org/download/deb
It worked fine for me on Jaunty (9.04) on an nvidia card on multiple machines.
The ability to boot from flash drive and able to play Demigod anywhere with an nvidia card: Priceless. ![]()
(It'd probably work for ATI cards, if I installed their driver.)
thx tazgecko and the_deathstalker , i have following every step for the installation of demigod but i have always the same errors, when i will create dual boot windows for the game and linux for all.
And maybe in fiew months , i will test with diablo III ![]()
thx to you
long life to linux with or without game , but i prefer with game for say bye bye to wind...
longue vie a linus
Send me a PM with the following: The output of 'glxinfo' and the wine errors (or the whole log) and I'll see what I can figure out.
