Health v DPS: Health wins

Health v DPS: Health wins

The anecdotal evidence is clear:  health stacking rapes DPS stacking.  But for giggles, I calculated the life expectancy of an Unclean Beast stacking health items versus an identically specced Unclean Beast stacking DPS items.  At every level, the health UB wins.

For anybody who was on the fence, hopefully this will help convince you that buying as many +health items as possible is really the very best idea.

The scenario is two UBs duking it out to the death.  Both start with full health, full mana.  Both are making full use of abilities.  No fleeing.

Took the following factors into account, among others:

  • Base stat increases for leveling
  • All impacts from items
  • All impacts from spells
  • Auto attack damage, mitigated by armor
  • Spell damage, not mitigated by armor
  • Health
  • Health per second
  • Armor
  • Auto attack damage
  • Attack speed
  • Lifesteal
  • Spell damage

Did not factor in mana limitations, with the assumption that Foul Grasp will only ever be cast twice max and both builds have the mana to do that.

The Furious Blade impact was simplified.  I just assumed that the 30% proc was active 15% of the time.  If anybody has a better way to model Furious Blade impact, let me know.

High level details are below.  If you want to dig in more, I saved it as a Google Spreadsheet.

Well I've gotten DPS Regulus build working with some teams in custom games, but horribly failed in others. If the enemy focus on hp it's very hard to follow with dps. I've had Erebus heal almost quicker then I could shoot them, which is crazy, and that was around level 10. And it's crazy running around with 2400 hp. I guess a defensive support team would work, but other then that I dont see how you can pull of a pure DPS build. The cool thing about Regulus is that you can do a slow/mine build and if there is a late game you can switch to DPS in the end game, and it will still work. I'm gonna test this some more.

I want you to consider my build. because armor/hp makes very little difference considering i have both and a massive amount of dps

The general idea is to use spit and ooze together

Once you are level 10 your spit and ooze combine do on they're own 290 dps thats without auto attack coming into affect.

At level 10 you would have Spit/ooze maxxed out and 2 into innerbeast for faster attack speed and run speed. From there you can put points into attribute skills to give yourself a bigger boost in AS and hps/armor

To start off buy scalemail and banded armor for 600 armor and 400 hps

Once at 1500 gold buy Nimoth Chest armor for 750 more armor and 500 more hps

I always get Boots of Speed

Aside from that its rather simple to get hp armor untill you can get artifacts and boost your hps/dps higher, but the whole point is maxxed spit/ooze alone do 290 dps not including Auto attacks and the 290 is straight through armor. If you take into affect that at level 10 you can easily have 6k health you are pretty much a killing machine considering you can get damage reduction to 50% easily while still having 6k health and around 500 dps. Just my oppinion of what a true DPS beast is.

You say HP and Armor make little difference, but also claim that is where you spend most of your money, I'm not sure what argument you are making. Are you agreeing with the OP then?
