this game is so f***ing frustating!!

i dont play bad, but i almost always loose in this pantheon shit, cause someone leaves, or i end up with shit noobs or i end up with 1vs2 or 4 players on a 10 player map! or with ki on my side or whatever! there is always no game where all things are right!

i´ve got only 1 "normal" game with this pantheon crap so far! never seen such a shit.

got a game today with a fucking noob and horrible lagg! i went out after 1min and got a loss... very nice!

than i go custom game, ALT TAB and game crashes...

i come back and get invalid user error.

WTF is this shit?!

sometimes this game just sucks horrible! but if it is working its just nice and is fun.... but if get the whole set of bugs on one day i could take the game and throw it out of the window!

i mean, how long is this game on the market?! wasn´t there a beta?! have this things not been since the beginning? why is nobody fixing this crap?! there was time enough before releasing it. i wonder if the developers of today are testing their games before releasing them?! obviously they dont or dont do it right, if i look at demigod, armed assault 2, stalker etc.!

is it that hard to release a game when its finished?!!

test the damn thing until its free of bugs or at least almost free of it! this game is damn full of them! even now, after X patches..

i wouldnt blame anyone for releasing a game which has some bugs... its impossible to see all of them right from the beginning, but if a game like demigod has SO DAMN MANY bugs, which are pretty obvious, i start to wonder what got through their minds when they chose to release this...

did you think the people would enjoy to be alpha/beta testers or that noone would care or even dont see the bugs?!

i apologize for my bad language, i´m really pissed atm.

its a great game and i thank you for creating it and hopefully for fixing it to a level to where there are not this many very frustrating bugs.

i agree with you, it makes me sad knowing they could of had a much better release.

just now they decided to add modding, and it took around a month to get online going, but at least they are changing stuff

The game is in version 1.0.  Bugs are to be expected in any game that has just been released and and you seem to think the developers are doing nothing or that they were aware of bugs but released it anyway.

Of course it was beta tested but do you think those testers played the game in every single way, using all the different combinations of items, demigods, maps, situations etc? Of course not, so there are going to be things they didn't expect because they can't predict how the game will be played.

It is one thing to recognise a bug and completely another to reproduce the bug, then find what is causing it and then to fix it.

You're probably used to playing many games which have been out for a while and been through many patches, this is normal in an online multiplayer game.

This is all aside from the colossal amounts of hindsight bias you are using.

I would recommend playing skirmish or custom.

no it isnt, this release was awful bugwise and conectivity wise, especially when they are game breaking bugs that were complained about during beta

In beta 1 and parts of beta 2, I can alt tab all i want and the game would never crash.

Then they added some strange impulse things and alt-tab would crash randomly ever since.

4 players on a 10 player map!

Actually, I find Zikurat to be pretty functional as a 2v2 map, taking even less time to get around than on Leviathan.

And if you're trying to alt-tab out of the game to mess with other applications and such, I recommend you try playing in windowed mode, which works very well for that purpose.

Stardock have already said that they dropped the ball on the connectivity issues, but you shouldn't complain at them for making mistakes (humans have a habit of making them) but rate them on what they did to fix the issues.  They didn't have to pull 100 hour weeks and all-nighters but they did and now nearly all of the connectivity issues are fixed.

And If you think this was particulary bad you should find out what happened when battlenet and steam were released and maybe a bit about the software development cycle so that you realise that fixing these things take time, the developers can't wave their magic wand to make everything better.

I kinda would of expected the beta testers to use the multiplayer system somewhat, it was hugely flawed on launch.

i never said those were acceptable, so that doesnt affect this. point is they should have delayed to have gotten rid of some bugs

Not true, pantheon is as broken as ever (both connectivity and abuse issues, all of which should be dealt with).  It's very common for games to have bugs/missing features on release.  It's quite uncommon for games to have game breaking bugs unfixed 2 months after release.  Only custom games now work proper, but without real community features there is a big chance of the following happening:

1) There is almost no player interaction (as in no chat lobbies, no functional friends system) - you PuG and get matched against a premade team on voice with total randoms on your side, some of which are new to the game and you get stomped.

2) You PuG another game and repeat 1) or just get lucky to run into a friend or a good team, so 1) happens to the other side.

3) You then go on to play the evening with the team from 2) and keep stomping the randoms that come by.

4) In both cases, there is a huge chance that someone on the weaker team will drop from the game (the so called rage-quit).  Quite often this happens after only a couple of kills.  You usually go and rehost a game with the same quality team (or PuG another game and hope for a better team)

5) Occasionaly, YMMW, but quite rare - your good team gets matched against another good team.  You play an awesome game for 45 minutes and feel satisfied even when you lose.  Unfortunately it took 3 days/3-4 hours per day to get it.

my anger is gone, cause the game worked fine for some time now...

i really appreciate what the developers do to get it fixed. its true, that the connectivity issues are almost gone completely and thats damn nice! i couldn´t play the game online for quite some time cause of this shit.

and agreed, the pantheon is still bugged... a big problem with skirmish and pantheon is that there are so few people playing it, that there are just enough players to get a game going. i cant think of that those few players are equal in skill.

i really like this game and thank you very much for it.

again, i apologize.

If you press shift+tab and bring up the impulse menu, there actually is a generally chat/lobby but I agree it is somewhat difficult to find.  I would have expected it to be prominently featured in the multiplayer screens.  Similarly, there is a friends system built it - though it is of marginal functionality.

The best solution imho is to either join a clan (XoO, the clan I'm in is pretty casual orientated with a few members who like to do the clan wars stuff) or find a public vent server.  Another clan, MoX was kind enough to post the details for their vent for anybody to use, see this thread:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/352296

I have seen a few other people post up details for public vents. Finding a team of regulars and getting on voice chat doesn't necessarily improve the competition, but the more people that do this the more decent teams you will see out there.  And there's always in hosue games if you get enough people on any given vent.

The Impulse Chat is void of people (or I don't know which channel to join and game doesn't automatically join me in the right one).

From what I have heard, even the basic friends functionality - messaging is flakey at best, with messages taking up to an hour to be delivered.

i think South Park still has the record on "Shit" though, 162 times in 22 minutes. nice try though but I wouldn't be calling the Guiness Book just yet.

Is every one in this thread clueless? Especially the starter of this thread?

It's still technically in BETA testing, the game isn't even fully released yet, there are still a few more demigods to come into the game.  Ofcourse there are bugs, it's what we have to deal with when we decide to play a game before it's official release.

EDIT: by the way, I have hardly any connectivity issues, out of the 60+ games i've played, i've disconnected I believe 5 times, 2 of which I made myself leave due to things coming up.  Maybe you should look at the where you are connecting to? It makes sense if some one on the West Coast has a tough time playing smoothly with a host from Europe.  Also, check your own internets, I'm guessing half of you have bad internets.  Sure they have things to fix, they are improving with ever patch.  Do I like player to player? No, I think every one should just have to connect to the host, but I don't bitch and moan.  The problem is usually you, not Pantheon or whatever you feel like blaming it on kiddos.

Sounds like it's not joining you to the right channel. (#demigodgame)

What are you talking about? The official release was April 14(May 29 in Europe). The game was released 5 days early, but Beta testing usually ends a few months before release. And of course more DG are being released, it's called an expansion.

Pantheon is officially screwed right now, as it deliberately makes 2v3 games: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/356654

i really laughed at "the game is still in beta-testing". if anyone around here is clueless, than it´s you!

if a game is still in a beta-stage it should not be able to be bought, cause i am no beta-tester, i am a customer. btw: the game was released months ago!

" I'm guessing", yes you are a lot and yes, you guessed wrong a lot too.

WoW releases new content all the time.  Does this mean that even though the game hit shelves 5 years ago and released 2 official expansions since that they are still in beta because they are constantly adding content?  You need to..... I don't know what you need to do. I'll go somewhere along the lines of not posting anymore, but then again you may get a clue, and I guess you can post again.
