Messed up game we were winning, advice?

OK, so on prison it was 2 UB (us) vs 2 Reg

The game was pretty even until around level 15 and we had the speed and items to gank at will any reg who strayed too far from base so we were putting good pressure on.

Then the Regs pushed to giants and we were broke because we had items. :D

WHat is the best way to proceed in this situation?

In hindsight I am thinking sell items and tech up to giants too?

Buffing defenses as we could afford it is what we ended up doing, and yes, this was completely wrong and we got demolished.

Lord-Orion, you are spot on, sell your precious items, and tech up your citadel.

I actually pulled the opposite of this meneuvre a couple nights ago, where my team was getting pounded by the enemy.  I sold my items and teched up to Giants with multiple health and damage upgrades, bought some teleport scrolls and locks, and we won.

Remember that the best way to push an advantage is not to just get items, especially not 2v2. Your citadel, and high end troops can win the game for you much faster.  Capture an opposing portal, and lock it, and that is pretty much that.

Depending on the situation, if your item can get you to a level where dealing with giants is not a problem, then it is better in this situation.

Many times I will forgo getting catapults or giants in favor of grabbing a cloak of flames late game for my Oak, if I'm high enough level and the rest of my build is ready for it, i can feed off the giants for more xp and gold and make up the 6000 rather quickly, without losing ground, especially if it puts me in the position to also kill other DG's more easily.

Save you Area Effect skills for later on and as soon as you see them massing at your doorstep spend the next few levels points on them and just FARM the giants till you can upgrade your citadel.

How was your AOE capabilities?

Also getting some splash damage up, catapultasaurus, catapults and finger of god would have helped.

This right here is the reason why I love this game.

2UBs should be able to push Regs off any flags and easily out Warscore them.  You guys should of hit rank 10 LOOONG before them, gotten giants(not bought a bunch of artifacts), and won.

You should have won the game earlier.  If the reguli arent leaving their base, start using your two spits to drop towers and start taking down their base.  Cats and giants aren't the only thing that can destroy buildings, Demigods can do it too.

You should have won the game much earlier, but as a general rule of thumb, if it comes down to the situation you described, sell items and get upgrades.

Let's be clear that 2 UB vs 2 Reg on Prison is not so imblanaced as you might think when played right.

Although not the original purpose of the post, I will add some more details on the game.

1) You are almost always in perfect snipe range, even when they are regenerating at their crystal, so you will be eating arrows in the face constantly.
2) There is little manuvering room, so the enemy never gets caught with you inbetween them and their base.
3) The combat zone is small, so you really need to watch your step. Step on a shrapnel mine and you are making a trip to the healing crystal after being filled full of arrows, or worse.
4) The distance to a healing crystal from the battle field is close enough that even what should be a lethal spit usually allows them to not be done in by it even while returning to base on foot.
5) Towers are always close by, so when they drop mines and flee, you can't detour around them and catch them before they are safely in the towers. Then you eat snipes in the face and they come back fully recharged.

They also played quite intelligently. It was always focus fire on one of us, and the Reg with Saam-El's clock was always in the front so we could never quite slow him enough with diseased claw, wyrmskin gloves and foul grasp vs maim, wyrmskin and shrapnel mines to get a kill without one of us dying in the process. (when you are slowed, you are going to get 6 mines every single time)

All around the kill rate was quite low until the end of the game. Some notable exceptions include the first time we landed a chain foul grasp, the first time we stepped on a shrapnel mine, and the first time we used wand of speed to catch one of them in a mine throw animation.

We also owned the gold mine most of the match and used it to subsidize the Totems of Revelation.

At the end of the game we had more kills and gold, but clearly made the wrong choice in trying to weather their push with impulse defense upgrades rather than getting giants.

In this match Giants > level 3 tower health and damage, trebuchets and finger of god.

my recommendation would be to do a barrel roll.
