Is it just me, or does Oak's description not fit him? Does he have any weakness?

Oak's description says that his weaknesses are that he has limited ranged abilities and that he has no burst damage.

I am not sure what Oak they were playing. Lvl 7 you can get penitence 3, which does 600 damage, 13% slow down, and 13% increased damage taken. And you can do this every 7 seconds. Oak is a Demigod killer - go in, hit with penitence, which has a very nice range, and I think it stuns, it doesn't say so but I have seen it stop casts.

So like I said, if you go in with a penitence, then surge of faith, they are down 1000 health, weakened, slowed, and you are hitting faster, by time you bring them down the next 1000, they may want to run, you can pop another surge of faith if up, or just follow them and hit with penitence. If anything goes bad, pop your shield, and run fast, you should be fast enough from surge of faith. I always take swift ankelts to outrun, and even if you don't jsut get off penitence and they are slowed

However, I would agree the description is a little off, but more because it makes oak seem more like a support backup demigod than what I think it is. Sure, he can play support, but I think of him as more of a "well rounded" hero than a support hero.

penitance slows you down, but doesn't stun you (interrupts though). That said, the time you gain from the slowdown is mostly lost in the time it takes to cast. And surge of faith isn't *that* great except when you time it right and kill a lot of creeps (converting that to hp) to turn the tables.

but if you have swift ankelts, you cover ground fast: penitence is ,1 seconds, surge of faith is 1. if you time surge of faith well, before they run, its nice

Range is definitely a weakness. Penitence alone is not enough to get kills, and spamming Penitence and Surge constantly you will run out of mana in no time.

Matchups I have the most trouble with as Oak:

Regulus with Mines + MoB -You can't get close to him because of the mines, if you throw penitence at him he will attack you and throw mines on you while u are slowed. I usually get Cloak of Night for favor so I could possibly warp over the mines, but it seems if I ever try that, his partner will come to rescue him and I'll have to trudge through the mines to escape with shield, which will slow me again it'll be tough to escape from 2 DG at that point unless someone bails you out.

Ooze Beast - Usually stacks health, and slows my AA speed so it's hard to damage him quickly. Also Ooze will kill off my spirits before they can do much damage. I can sort of even the fight with Sludge Slinger but it's still a hard battle.

Erebus + Nightwalkers - Lack of good AOE attack means you can't kill all the buggers fast enough before they take a good chunk of HP out of you. Lvl 3 Surge of Faith may help but if Erebus has Army of Night + Morale it's still not enough.

beast - why are you getting spirits? ooze really isnt bad at all, you are right about health though, it can be a big problem. that's why getting a head is key. later lvl rooks can be a pain, the best way to deal with them is ton get killed, not let them kill you, or plan to take em out when you have 2v1

erubus - at a high lvl is a pain because of nightwalkers - but at lvl 7 you get an amazing mve and need to start crushing first thing

Only an idiot is going to hang around a penitence-specced Oak with 1000 HP. Aside from the obvious benefit of soul power, Spirits are great for taking hits from towers when I bash on them, I use them for harassment (they don't set off mines), and late game I will pump morale into them and they can hold off giants without me.

I find playing conservatively and hiding behind minions against an Ooze Beast to work best. Force him to come to you - he really wants to be in melee, so he will, even if it means taking minion damage on the way in.

Sludge slinger is a great idea - the slower the fight is, the more benefit you get out of your minions and monk heals. And eventually of course your own teams portal grunts will come up and they'll start whacking him too.
