Petition for Replays

So Demigod has been out for over 2 months now and replays are still not in. SupCom had a replay feature and Demigod is based off the same engine - dont ask me why its taking them over 2 months to implement them. On top of that, they are already half in so they just need polishing and its done.

From what I have read, Replays will not be in v1.1. Thats just really unacceptable imo. Replays should have been in at the very start and not put on a things to do list because things like connectiviry issues will stop them being released.

Anyway enough talk. Im quitting Demigod until replays are out because I think its just become a bit of a joke that we arent able to use them properly now.

Give a +1 if you think replays really need to be in.

+1 for replayes, dont know why there isnt an replay system for such a good game...

yea its appalling that this game was released with the lack of in-game functions, no replays, bugs and connectivity issues. there is a standard with gaming nowadays.

Replays are needed for:
Successful Competitive Scene
VoD's
Sharing Strategies
Helping noobs learn how to play
Getting new/old players to start playing the game.
And more...

Anyway. I would love new Demigods and maps but they take months to make. Replays are already half in and are MUCH easier to implement then maps and Demigods. They are also an expected basic feature that came with games 10 years ago.

Good for reliving awesome matches and learning new strats from pro players and also for determining how the enemy managed to beat you.  It also can be fun to share your best matches with your gaming buds.

While quitting the game because there are no replays is a bit dramatic(won't work as well as a hunger strike I'm afraid) I would still love to have replays.

+1 for replays.  I love analyzing my games / checking out what the other side did as well...replays are a must have.  It's so hard knowing I've played so many great games that I won't ever be able to re-live.  Though...I've saved them anyway =P.

replays are very important for this kind of game.

so its my "most wanted" and "most needed" !

Replays let you know what HAPPENED in the game.  If you've ever lost a game, and couldn't figure out how 'so and so' did 'such and such' you can go back now and find out.

OH, they had THAT item, or THAT favor item, or someone used THAT skill on them. You can also analyze your mistakes and what you could do to fix them.  They are also a fun way to remember a good game, and to show people how to play the game.

Replays would be nice.

content(e.g. additional demigods, maps, bugs, etc.) take priority over replays but I agree it should be in eventually.

Replays?  Well, on Lan, we usually play a game on Lan, and watch the replay 1-3 times; laughing, elbowing, smack talking, seeing things you had no chance seeing while your busy playing.  I just assumed replays would be added in 1.1.  Guess we'll see. . .

Not if you want this game to remain competitive... Looking back at supcom, I'd say I learnt maybe 25% of how to play in-game and 75% from watching hours of replays.

Being able to analyze your game and your opponents game are crucial tools to competitive RTS gamers.

In my experience the average player is a lot more experienced and harder to play against than let's say a month ago. Think about it: how tough it might be for a new player to get into online games. He probably has no or only weak favor items. Games without favor items are rare and many players wouldn't stay in a custom game without them. (Actually one of my builds kinda depends on a certain favor item...) :X

The AI won't help you much to learn how to play against a human opponent. There are no tutorial missions or 'testing areas' where he can just learn or test his new build without getting stomped.

Unless a new player has some experience with similar games, is talented or willing to 'tank' a bunch of lost games he will have a hard time to get into multiplayer without a clan or replays.

Two things would be helpful: Replays where you can see all the gear, abilities and stuff and a training area where you can play without game records, ranking or game lists (but with replays!!!). It would also help if you could see the number of games and experience a player has to form equally matched teams. Experienced players would be able to play 1v2s, 2v3s or something.

Demigod is a pure multiplayer game and it's success depends on the size of the community. Support new players to learn the gameplay and the community will grow. Leave them stranded and on their own...

I want replays in before content. I don't really care at all about new content.

I do find it interesting how GPG are pumping out new versions, but time and time again overlooking replays. It really makes me wonder if they understand the concept of RTS games being played at any kind of comeptitive level. More in game content isn't going to magically change the dynamic of the community, it simply means that there's a bit more stuff to keep you interested for a bit longer, the gameplay isn't bad so it's not really a problem. Missing replays is really straightjacketing potential growth of the MP scene.

Replays are already one of our top priorities post-1.1. No need for a petition, we want them too.
