Crashes with /nosound

I read that the best way to fix my horrible FPS would be to run the game using the /nosound shortcut, I added that and it's fantastic! My FPs is really good and the game is playable.

However since then my game crashes fairly frequently, today I've crashed out of 3 games I've played and yesterday it happened twice. I checked to make sure all my drivers were updated, which they were and I have absolutely no idea what's going on.

Any suggestions? Any information I need to provide?
