Laser mouse acting wierd

I know it's really random, but this forum is so huge I figured there are more possible people who can help me (and replies come so fast!). Anyway, I got a Rocketfish wireless laser mouse; the kind with 2 additional buttons on the side. It feels much better than my old golf ball of a mouse, but there are two problems with the buttons.

1) Whenever I press either additional button, unless the function is set to [none], my computer's wireless network locator opens.

2) The scroll wheel doesn't work at all in any of my video games. !!??!!?

Does anyone know how I can fix these things? Should I keep it or just return it (it was on sale for only 18 dollars)?

the only thing i can think of is that your computer might have some mouse buttons predefined for you, you can change them easily. but, it might just be a good idea to return the mouse
