Ladder Experience: How do you get it?

http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/rankings/ladder/

Link above lists top X players of the game. I noticed they are ranked not on win percentage or anything like that, but on 'experience'.  Does anyone know how this is calculated?  How do you get experience? Can it be lost?

Well here's how it's supposed to work, as far as I understand:

You lose experience when you lose a game. The amount of experience you lose depends on the rank of your opponent(s). The higher their rank compared to yours, the less you will loose and vice versa.

It's basically the same for wins. You gain more experience the higher ranked your opponent is.

gain experience for winning, lose experience for losing

gain more for beating someone ranked higher than you, gain less for beating someoneranked lower than you

lose more xp for losing to someone who is ranked lower, lose less for losing to someone ranked higher

Is it a player by player award, or based on your team?  I mean, if I'm awesome, but playing with two people at the bottom of the ladder, and win anyway, you'd think that'd be an impressive win, instead of a 'meh' win.

End of Zechnophobe's quote

I have no idea honestly. Basing it on the team would make more sense since it's a team game, but with the stats being as screwy as they are who knows?

my guess is they average a team's xp and then use those averages, but i have no idea

so if your good and with two scrubs and they are all good, and you win, you still should get more xp

Experience is broken, you can lose XP on a win. AI characters seem to adversely effect the calculations cause they are ranked very high, with an AI teammate a loss is devastating to your rank cause one on your team was super pro. Even a win with an AI teammate is pretty ordinary, prolly cause your partner was super pro, you should have won anyway.

Much better to enjoy the losing streak on a cool toon with a BS spec just cause it's fun:P Yeah, I'm talking to you Torch Bearer:P

Pretty sure EXP is divided amongst the team, so you will always get more for 1vs1. Which is probably why Phyce was #1 before the reset, and why LuckyGrin is #1 now (I'm not saying they are bad players though.)

I'm baffled.

I am 9-1 in the latest pantheon and I have 938 experience, putting me at rank 604.  How is this even remotely possible?  Everyone around me is 0-1, 1-1, etc.  Don't you start at 1000?  How can 9 wins and 1 loss put me at 938?

I´m confused about the ranking and exp calculating system too. Had a winning streak yesterday of 10 games in a row, having a ratio of 13:3 in the actual pantheon being rank 968 ! wtf ! Exp is 855 and I have beaten some real good players in really good and close matches. When I have a look at the top ten, no.9 has 2:1 and no.10 of the ladder 3:2 !

Hey, something is definately wrong with the calculation !

When you lose a game to a complete noob - you lose HUGE ammount of experience. Around 300 sometimes. The system works perfect.

No, since I have only relatively few games too, it can´t be that I lose 300 points in one game, then winning 10 games and not being able to compensate that points from 1 lose !! Something is really wrong if it is supposed to work that way.

A 2:1 ratio ranking on no. 9 is ridiculous !

Think twice:

You lost a game against complete noob. Lost 100 points (Not even 300). Won 10 games against noobs. Got some points back. Simple.

I'm #1 at ladder at the moment and I earn around 7-8 xp per winning game (Sometimes even less). Rarely I receive 20 xp for some top-100 opponents. Got 100 once for some1 from top-20.

The system actually WORK for everyone except cryers. So ++++drama.
