Now BSOD in Multiplayer Only - Every Time

Please don't blame my PC

I was getting unhandled exception crashes 80% of the time with 1.1 (previously 95% stable) - they occurred when I opened the client sometimes, or in the chat lobby, not just in the game (so it wasn't the death menu bug, and yes, I deleted my game prefs)

The 1.1 hotfix has graduated me to Bluescreen of Death 100% of the time

Here's why I don't think my video card blew up or my cpu is overheating -

I get it every time I play a *multiplayer* demigod game.  But the game works fine in single player.  All other games work.  It's just Demigod multiplayer, and it's hard crashing my whole system - WTF!  Also this never ever happened from Beta 1 through 1.1 - all issues started with the patch.

I'll try to get the BSOD code next time it happens

Symptoms -

Sometimes in specific game starting lobby - usually when I start to type in the chat interface

if not there then 100% in game loading screen or immediately afterward

I get the graphics card zebra screen immediately before the crash, but again, the game works perfectly well in single player so if it's a graphics issue I'm confused - usually the whole thing would stop working, no?

I don't even understand how an online interaction would crash the pc?

I'm gonna take my pc apart and reseat everything just in case, but if I could get a link to some handy diagnostic zip file that would be awesome.

Q9300 @2.55 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, 186 GB Free disc space, AMD 4850

Thanks

Hmm, if it's only in multiplayer, could have something to do with your motherboard/network drivers? (just a wild guess)

Which BSOD error message are you getting? The specifics of it will help diagnose the problem.

If its something like nvdlk.dll is non-responding that is a driver issue for the video card.  You need to download and run driver sweeper in windows safe mode to remove the corrupt driver files.

Then reinstall the latest drivers for your card

I actually did manage to complete a 1v1 after putting my pc back together, but I'm not sure if this is coincidence..

Per Frogboy in the "Im Back" thread they are looking at the crashes as a result of screwy LUA decompression?  I'm not sure what I can do about that if so - the error message I'm getting isn't a driver corruption, but I'll have to wait until it happens again to give you the exact code

been a while since I've had one of these: the error message is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGE_AREA..

again, all other programs and games work fine

hopefully I'm one of the ones this hotfix coming up is meant to help :/

Sounds to me like a hardware issue, either related to your HDD or RAM. Either the update passed through a bad portion of RAM, or it got saved onto a bad portion of your HDD. Here is a link to a free RAM diagnostic you can burn to a bootable CD: http://www.memtest.org/ If it is faulty RAM, and you replace it, I recommend reinstalling the game.
