Unit Icons in Interface needed

When playing a general, it would be very helpful if there were icons indicating how many of each minion, and potentially their health.  I would think of something in the vein of Dawn of War II's unit icons on the right side, or even Diablo II's icons for minions.  Allowing units to be selectable that way would be nice as well.  It is currently difficult to find a specific unit in the midst of battle and select it.

It would also help to have either icons for your allied demigods, or a hotkey (like ctrl to only select enemy demigods) that let you select either yourself only, or an ally only.  If you are Sedna or Oak, and are trying to heal/shield in the midst of battle, the targeting can be pretty tricky.  Something like Shift-3 to heal yourself could help this out and alt-3 to only heal your buddies.

Shift and Alt are too complicated in my opinion.

They just need to add unit frames on the left side of the screen, and each unit frame should show a character portrait, name, their hitpoints, and their mana. That way, if you want to heal someone, you can click on their portrait rather than their actual character in the battlefield.

For the minions though, I don't know. I don't think Diablo 2's system would be very effective because it would just make the screen really crowded. Some characters have 20+ minions, remember.

Right, but I mention Diablo 2 because, for example if had 6 skeletons, it had an image of a skeleton with the number 6 in the lower right hand corner.  Nobody has more than 4 units if I am remembering correctly.  As to shift an alt, yeah, its a little complicated, but a hotkey in addition to point and click would be nice.  I'd settle for point and click on a unit frame.

What if I want to send one of my monks to help my buddy and keep the other with me?

Then you can continue to select them the way you do now.

You mean by trying to find and then click on them in the thick of battle? Isn't the entire purpose of the UI changes you are recommending to eliminate that?
