Structures should grant XP and Gold

This game has the potential of promoting team play and objective-oriented play quite easily.  However, the most effective way to play currently is to farm grunts as much as you can in order to outlevel your opponent.  Immediately aiming for your opponent's base is generally suicidal, not necessarily due to an inability to successfully take out enemy structures, but purely because you earn no XP/Gold by doing so.

Grunt killing should be a peripheral task to trying to penetrate your enemy base.  Forcing people to farm grunts to stay competitive focuses on one of the duller elements of the game.  Since it is the most effective way to compete, it also forces people to play this way, rather than opening the game to more creative tactics.

If I kill a few grunts while pushing up to my enemy's base and manage to down a tower, why shouldn't I receive XP and Gold?  Why should a person 1-2 shotting npc's (something that your AI towers will do) end up with better award stats (dmg/level/gold and due to this more than likely pvp superiority awards) for farming such creatures?

I think you do get gold. Not xp though. (Not exactly sure) But i think it's 300 gold per tower.

Towers give 300 gold, but no XP.

Generals summoned minions should give xp too.  If grunts give it...minions should.  I know it would be "unfair" since assassins do not have minions to give the opposing team xp, but all units on the map should be worth xp+gold.  Just my 2 cents.  :)

300 gold split between however many demigods it took to destroy it.

minions rewarding xp/gold would just be insanly unfair and imbalanced, considering a general must first spend precious gold to buy the Idols and then spend mana to actually summon them. Not like they are THAT useful in the first place.

Minions can be extremely useful when used properly.  If minions were to grant exp/gold, as I think they should to create some accountability for the minions you create, then assassins need to have the gold/exp given upon their death increased, to compensate for the fact that generals are producing gold/exp by using their minions.

I was just thinking this yesterday, actually.

I was playing Hammer Rook and the other team had a Tower Rook on their side. So quite often I found myself mopping up towers he'd left around, which was a tedious process, I even ended up getting the "Structures" Favour Bonus despite the fact we lost due to me having to do this. I recall saying to my teammate, "You know, I wouldn't mind this too much if these damn things actually gave me some exp or something.", or something to that effect, anyway.

I'm pretty sure Rook's don't give gold, either.

1) Oktane I love your account picture. FFXII FTW

2) Minions rewarding xp would be a bad thing. Maybe 5 or 6 gold so it COULD make somewhat of a differance but it would either have to be something like 5xp appiece or not at all.

3)Spector's idea would be the best way of doing that. Maybe a 20% increase on death gold and xp for the tradeoff that minions give a DECENT amount of xp and gold (something within the minotaur range) but then we'd need more favor items that heal your minions and then you'd have to redo the game. There isn't a general yet whose minions are more powerful than himself/herself when used properly. Hopefully we'll get a demigod whose minions double as the demigod. Maybe something that actually splits INTO her/his minions which are unusually powerful for minions in this game.

4) Rooks towers don't give gold but the fact is that they do count as a structure destroyed so the other team almost always gets the structure favor bonus. The main counter to this is to just target the rook. If you can lock him down with a stun or 2 while he is low on life he is normally gone. Ignore the towers and only attack when minions are there to back you up and take some of the tower agro. Towers only attack the minions closest first then the demigods closest. It's their priority. Play on this. 8 towers may do 800 dps but spread over 10k health in minions you bought yourself a massive amount of time to kill him expecially if minions are destroying towers over this period.
