New modem?

I have a D-Link 500g II, it is my mean to connect to internet for a good time now.

And by good time i mean like years, certainly more than 3 years old.

I never really had problems with it, i think its the only piece of hardware i haven't changed in a long time.

But now i have Demigod, and i believe my shitty connectivity its caused by it.

Almost every game i join, even with port forward and disabled firewall, my connection info goes like this: Direct,Direct,Directec,NAT,Proxied,Proxied, etc. Before you look on my profile, i have managed to play 2 games only, but in something like 10 attempts, there was one time i even crashed on loading screen. Single-Player runs really fine, and most of the time i was playing with bots for the last 2 weeks.

I'm willing to spend some bucks buying a decent new modem/router (i think thats the name). Would that solve my problem?

Most likely. The fact that it is 3 years old means it is not of the newest modem type (I believe the current is the G series? Correct me if I'm wrong.) Not only do the newer modems have securer, simpler connections, they tend to run a little faster. However, could you do a test on speedtest.net and see if your problem might be caused by a low upload rate? What connectivity issues do you have, exactly?

Modem router combo units are inherently BAD.

Get a separated modem and router and your issues will disappear.
