The most aggravating thing about Demigod

Are the disconnects.

Forget balancing, or premades, or whatever else someone wants to whine about for they will always find something. But the issue of disconnects or crashing to desktop is infuriating. Few things worse than to be winning a game and then BAM, disconnected, and you get a loss. Or someone crashes during a game loading and you get stuck with an impromptu AI.

The other thing is taking this to the tech staff for help or input you get the "go into your files, find this, copy that, and send that info to __ this email".  I'm sorry guys, but these are issues that have been in online gaming for 15+ years. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel and take some pages from companies that have made the process easy.  If support knows there are going to be issues to fix, and they will need important information from X folder off your comp, why haven't they just wrote the program to make that easy?

Having an issue? Go to the help forum and click the big red button, we will access your PC and the file we need and extract the nessecary info and email it to ourselves. Tahdah.

This prevents the same repetitive questions that I am sure Support gets buried with, it prevents people sending in the wrong info from the wrong file, and it speeds up the entire process.

The game is well enough, you took a basic idea and jazzed it up nicely. Kudos. But stop trying to reinvent the wheel in some areas.

No comment as to whether this thread is being created after yet another crash. :-"

^^

We were dominating the other team, and then the other two people on my team got dropped (Lonous was one) for no reason.
I went on to beat the remaining forces of light player, but the game was recorded as a loss for forces of darkness.

Pantheon 3v3 - one person on the forces of light raged. Then later on, my two team-mates on the forces of dark got dropped, as a 2nd player on the forces of light quit, leaving me + 1 forces of light guy.

The game was recorded as a loss for everyone apart from the 2nd forces of light guy who dropped, so I assume he was the pantheon 'host'...

HoN sorts this out nicely, you see how many times your opponent has disconnected - more than 10% of games and they get a thumbs down icon. Less and a thumbs up.

I'd actually look forward to disconnects, seeing as how I can't even join a game without ridiculously high ping (only for me) forcing me to leave the game before further inconveniencing the other players and myself.

Most of the time they either ask you to use dxdiag - easy to use

Or go into My Computer and look for the file - anyone with basic computing skills can manage this, and heck there is even a search function you can use to look for a specific file.

Sorrry you are having issues with disconnects and crashes, I've yet to have disconnecting problems, only a couple loading screen crashes sprinkled about but i have had a smooth experience mostly myself.

 Crashes (any)
Resolving crash issues is one of our top priorities. If you experience a crash at any point, please download this zip file and run the .cmd file inside. It will gather a variety of debugging information and generate another zip file in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod\reports which you can email to [email protected] (please include any details about what you were doing in the game at the time that you can). They will attempt to reproduce the issue and pass the info on to the developers if they cannot help directly.

... over here:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/359551.  The zip file grabs the useful information and cuts down on alot of the manual processes.  I understand the frustration, though, but hopefully that zip file helps some.

Pacov it's appreciated, and I have done this. Send the email 3 times, with 2 replies back asking for the very same info again, which was sent again.  Anyways I was just whining over being disconnected from a good game, again. Hopefully they get the crap worked out soon enough.

As a side note,

Last night I crashed to desktop, there was that window (Fatal error. blah blah blah). Instead of clicking to "abort program", as I usualy do, I dunno why, and clicked the minimized game (it was a great game), and for my surprise, I was still playing, weird eh? Dunno if it always possible, but I will try it everytime now. And no, no desynch was detected.

Understood.  I know it sucks.  I keep submitting problem reports when possible when I have crashes.  I wonder why you keep getting requests for additional information.... everytime I submit a bug report with logs attached, I get an automated ticket followed by a response of someone from support a day or so later (typically telling me that the the issue has been escalated).

Anyways I was just whining over being disconnected from a good game, again. Hopefully they get the crap worked out soon enough.
End of quote

Fair enough.  Been there.  Hope you make it through your next good game without a crash!

And this is why I stopped playing Pantheon. I have tried to get a game for 1 hour without an AI. I ended up with two loses from disconnects and no match. That was 3 days ago and I don't plan I trying again until this thing is fixed.

Also, this is not a bata so I expect the problems to be know enough that I should not need to send anything in to alert them or this problem. If anything, they should be telling me what the problem is that occured and ways around it.

Ive never quitted any1 games before, not even conceded.  I try to learn from my or my teams mistakes.
I do however crashed 2 or 3 times in games and over 30 times in Lobby, oh god lobby sucks, kick some1 and i have a 40% crash risk.

On the subject lobby, when i crash i cant report it with a simple button, no have to copy/paste and then mail it... thats not really solving issues there, most ppl wonst report including me, i'd rather play asap.

Not to Mention Pantheon games, got booted 3 times from it because some1 cant connect to me or something, waste of time/stats imo.  Easy to cheat with.

Hey ya'll GPG is aware of the issues and have been working diligently on fixing them.

There are definitely some growing pains but things are better now than they were a month ago and will be better a month from now.

Hrmmm reminds me of my first quake 3 clan [QCB]  let's have a contest and see who can figure our what that means lol

Anyways, we all have to work to try and make the community better for everyone.  A lot of people are hatin' on the game, it's a damn good game even with the problems.  I don't want to see it die off because of the community.
