Noobfilter; why we need it.

Now stats tracking is broken, and wins or losses are ussualy of little value(although... it can be usefull sometimes-> see obscenitors post). However, it's incredibly annoying to get a noob in your good players game and ruining it all.

Some of you want to be able see ladder ranks in game. Now I don't agree, because the stats are so broken it means games will pop up, with hosts demanding win percentages of 80 percent or higher or something stupid, just like we have <100 ping games(this is wrong, the net latency limit is 350, look it up srsly).

Instead, the host should be able to filter his games to only let players with more than 50/100/150(etc) games to join. Sure, amount of games isnt everything, but a player with a hundred games under his belt will surely be atleast average. Or, alternatively let the host see amount of experience and amount of games played but no win/lose.

In addition:

[quote="Colonel_Jessep"]I agree 100%. It might be nice to add a <=50 filter for the new players too so they can't get rofl stomped by griefers.[/quote]

P.S.

Like DFboy said this can be a problem if everyone plays pro games only and there is no room left for noobs. So instead of filtering, a big warning should pop up: YOU HAVE PLAYED 8 GAMES. THIS GAME REQUIRES 50 GAMES AND UP. YOUR GAMEEXPERIENCE IS POSSIBLY TOO LOW. IT IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO PLAY BEGINNER-FRIENDLY MATCHES FIRST. PROCEED AT OWN RISK.

Or something like this anyway=D.

Thats a very good idea CJ! Added.

This makes a lot of sense, and I agree- games played is probably the best filter.  Although I cringe when I see people who have played 150 or so games but only won 10 of them.

Ugh... how is quote supposed to work?

You mark the text you want to quote and press the button. It doesnt work all the time though. You can use the BB code without name and stuff to quote too.

Yeah stats mean don't mean a lot, my win % is awful but i always play with randoms and never quit. I have played a huge amount of games though and would class myself as capable on at least 3 demigods (i am able to play all though).

I usually nevermind player's ladder rank, win percentage also doesn't always show all the picture about a player (bad luck/teammates happens). But the number of games really tells something about skill. So k1 to the OP. I also might add that I look for how much disconnects player has. A large amount of disconnects is a real warning. So I'd like to see how much disconnects a player has before playing with him.

quote doesn't work in chrome. Its a nuisance because I love chrome. I just open up firefox when i absolutely want to quote because I can never remember the exact syntax of the quote markup.

I wonder if the devs would be shy to do this. They wouldn't want an issue on their hands where someone who just bought the game can't play multiplayer b/c 90% of the games are filtered. It COULD happen. Kinda unlikely though, and he could always just host one.

More filters cannot hurt. Would be to get more custom game filters and possibly a pantheon/skirmish blacklist for this truely grueling players you end up stuck with who have terrible ping/sim speed, no clue what they're doing and no willingness to learn or communicate.

A filter would be a great start.   Good matchmaking is so crucial for these games to succeed.  I played Demigod for the first time with a group of friends last weekend.   We hosted a 3v3 game "3v3 Noobs Only".    Of course we didn't get any noobs to join.   2 were awesome players and 1 was maybe a new player.   The game was brutal for us.   The pros ran around the map with a fully leveled Oak and Unclean Beast and killed us over and over again.   My Rook was made of warm butter and they had the knives.   It was an incredibly frustrating first experience.    They clearly could have finished us off in 10 minutes but prolonged the "fun" for a full hour.   I'm not exactly the type who quits out of online games either.  (maybe i should have).  I would have never touched the game (or bought it) if my friends hadn't repeatedly harassed me into giving it another chance.   Turns out i now really enjoy the game.   Having something as simple as a games filter would have been nice to avoid this.

I have to say that I care about win percentage more.  Sure, it's nice that a person has more games under his belt, but all that does is give me more confidence that his win percentage is not a fluke.  Anyone that has played more than a dozen or so games is fine by me if his win percentage is decent.

The large amount of noobs especially in Pantheon spoils the fun of demigod.

I don't understand how people that don't know how to play at all want to compete in a "tournament" like one that Pantheon should be.

I agree that this is needed, I don't agree on the way you want to impliment it.  I don't have time to play tons of games, but I'm a good player and my record is good.  Also I've played games with players whos records were like 33-145, so they can join pro games no problem?  Simply display record in the lobby, if the player is decent they can make their case to the players in the game.

My other option only involves a warning, because most of the time these noobs don't want to play a loosing game on purpose, but just join the first thats open. Sure its not a foolproof system but its the best we can get.

@RobWild,I do not want to be rude, but I doubt your gameplay skill; looking at you're games I see that you pretty much only played premades against randoms. Don't get me wrong, you could very well be an amazing player, but judging from your pantheon stats you just bash noobs and I can't tell those superskills from the stats. You have an 85 winning pct, which in any serious ladder is almost impossible. I'm sure there are people with almost half your win pct that will smoke you in game(no offense meant).

I've never met a guy that had atleast 50 games under his belt who wasen't atleast average. Unless the player in question is a retards(like IRL) more games directly corrolates to better play.

P.S. Win percentage DOES NOT work. For one, a host can seriously damages someones win percentage if he leaves giving him the win. The otherway around, an host that always quits will usually have a win pct of over 90 percent.
