Windows 7 Reviewed on CNet

Since there are OS discussions here often enough, I wanted to share this article:

http://reviews.cnet.com/windows/microsoft-windows-7-professional/4505-3672_7-33704140.html

I found this particular quote helpful because it addresses a very common criticism of Windows 7:

Although the look of Windows 7 may seem to be nothing more than some polish applied liberally to the Vista Aero theme, make no mistake: This is a full replacement operating system, and more than just "Vista done right." From driver support to multitouch groundwork for the future, from better battery management to the most easy-to-use interface Microsoft has ever had, Windows 7 is hardly half-baked.

Since my recent purchase of a new Vista OEM comes with a voucher for a free Windows 7 upgrade (as do all Vista purchases made after June 22), I will be upgrading to Windows 7 once I am comfortable that the release is stable enough.

The fact that most PC enthousiasts that test W7 actually make it their main OS should tell you enough about its stability. But you can't argue with people that are afraid of change ;)

I use W7 RC 1 as my primary OS as I have 8 gig of memory, I find it much bette than my Vista 32 bit ultimate, I am configured in a dual boot configuration. I will be going to to W7 when it is released in fact I have already pre-purchased 2 copies.

No way it's as stable as XP SP3...

I will not be able to test Windows 7 till next year perhaps.

Yes way.  If you really haven't had any first-hand experience with it, you really can't go around and act like you know how stable it is or not.

No shit! How can anyone make a statement like that. It's troll food, that's all.

I've been using the RC in a virtual environment for awhile now and have had zero issues with it. Looking forward to this one with great anticipation.

It pretty much used to be mine until Win7. Simply put one can't wrong with Win7. I figure many companies that skipped Vista will upgrade to Win7 shortly after the first SP however. This OS should change many peoples mind about M$ seriously... It is worth every penny - now how many times as someone said that about a MS product?

RTM releases in 2 days (from what I hear). August 6th.

So glad my work believes in giving us MSDN.
