I am the worst Demigod player ever

Beat my 16.7% win %

I don't know what the problem is. I guess its me I assume. I join all the noob games and still loose. I was a halfway decent DOTA player also. I'm sure there are other players out there with a 16.7% win % or worse. My only concern is that whenever rankings are visible from inside the game that I will be kicked from every game I join. Anyone else care to chime in with comments for a discussion? Mabey I'm really not terrible and just happen to play aganist premades every game.  :waaaa:

First try to practice offline abit then read some quides on these forums...and if that doesnt work youve ran into pro noob bashers :(.

Well, at the very least you could host your own game.

However, i doubt people will be that superficial when visible ranks are in game. I have payed with some people who have lost alot more games than won but when i played with them i thought they were great.

Plus once replays are available you can watch pro players build thier character and copy them some what to make yourself better or atleast give you a better understanding of the game.

Look at the host's stats. Sometimes I see "Noob only" games hosted by ppl with something about 90wins/20losses, those are noob stompers.

me and my playing buddy lost our first ~12 games online. there's plenty of average players out there, let me tell you! i also find DG much harder to learn than something like forged alliance, because its not as transparent.

as with most things, practice!

Don't be afraid to play a lot of AI games to get the hang of things...

Do all hard + one nightmare to start and work up skills there...

Learn the items and strats that work for you there and adapt them to playing people...

I finaly got my first win, and I've had the game since near day 1.  Yet someone listed me on the "good players" list.  8C    I figured out that it's because I unknowingly join premades and/or don't care if I'm playing with noobs.  Actually, I like playing with noobs if their good sports.  If I could, I would play a non-ranked game I would 90% of the time.  Don't worry about your ranking, it may all be erased with the upcomming 1.2 patch I'm guessing.

Maybe this will help you:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349958

Well looking at your game history you pick a different DG almost every game. I think you're just going through a learning process and you'll get the hang of it before long. One thing you need to remember is that records are reset periodically so people who have been playing for a while are going to have a much cleaner record.

Just stick it out for now, keep doing what you're doing and you'll be good to go by the time the next ladder reset comes around. I'm pretty Frogboy had said they'll do a reset as soon as 1.2 launches and they're certain stats are being recorded correctly, so we'll all be at 0-0 when those in-game dipslays come along.

If it's any consolation my record looked similar while I was trying to learn the game.

You'll learn. Some of us had the advantage to learn to play when everyone else was newbs aswell :P

I've been playing since Epcoh I and my record has never been reset...

Favor points yes... record no..

shark7 ,you should practice with 1 DG only until u can play him/her well, than you can change your DG and play the next one.

that was my way to become a good player,

I agree. I started with Rook, and played till I knew him backwards. I'm nearly done with Erebus, then I'm moving on Sedna. There are some Demigod's whos play style doesn't really suit my own, such as Reg, but it's always worth playing a Demigod just to learn what tricks they have up their sleves - it's makes facing off against them a lot easier.

Not everyone is a rank-whore :)

I've no problem playing with newbs, and definately won't kick people from games just because they're not that great - the game's there to enjoy, not to win and gloat.

heres some good advice:

go to www.demigoddb.com and learn all abilities of every hero off by heart.

find a simple build you like with each hero and stick to it.

play all heros, you will ofc suck at the start but once you learn all abilities you should be ok.

learn from your/others mistakes and learn from others good tactics, you can copy good players tactics that you vs/play with.

premeditate what your opponent is going to do, for example if you are on low HP of course reg is going to snipe you.

dont desert your team mates and make sure you use your abilities on them(like heal/shield).

get annoyed and pissed off when you die, always question yourself why it occured or why you didnt see it coming.

and most importantly, spells with utility are better than spells with damage. never go full fire tb >:(

Without a good match making - or without some players in there - the stats are totally nonsense. Custom games can be joined by team and they have a huge advantage against the free for all team. Most games are just decided by who gets the best / worst player or team. It is like throwing a die. But the other games are a lot of fun.

And if you have a look at my last games you will see that I have always someone with 0:10 stats or worse in my team. Even with knowing some imba tactics you don't have a chance, because your enemies will be twice as strong as you.

Haha, I lost like 8 out of 10 my first couple weeks.  So I've got a terrible record.  Doing better now.

Eh, don't worry to much about it guy-- the ranking are only marginally useful in revealing skill, the only thing its really accurate for is showign who has a decent connection.

As an example:  http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/854942/player/75146/

That game went on for around 40 minutes.  The host rage quit or dc'd at the 8 minute mark.  The rest of his team was so good that at 4 vs 5 it couldve gone either way (Zikurat is a map where AI's tend to play well due to the high number of fortresses).  Drugfreeboy who was on the 4 man side, stayed until the end & played excellent, SHOULD have gotten the highest favor credit even with hios side losing, instead he got nothing-- only the leaver got favor points & the credit for the win.  So the win/loss number % in this game is fairly meaningless.   I can see how it could be discouraging for new players though.  They should either prioritize fixing it or remove it.  One nice thing about dota was there was no separate dota won/loss record to keep track of-- after each game you just dusted yoruself off & started again-- the good players knew each other based on how they played, not some % number.

In terms of helpful advice-- I'm not that great a player (though like most still better than my win.loss %)  but there are some things you can do which are fairly easy & yet have big impacts in a game.  Try playing Erebus in a minion build -- there's a few guides in the strategy section.  Being able to send twelve 2K hp minions up a lane usually has an impact in a game.  Or trying playign a tower rook.  Lots of new guys like the hammer, but again, towers played well can own a lane.  QoT though weak lategame is another beginner friendly hero, go with shield.  And Sedna pretty much any build tends to be pretty straightforward-- just dont forget to help out your teammates once in a while if you can.

I am new as well (loved the demo and just ordered the game), and there is some good advice in this thread.  Many thanks.  I would just add that the Demigod wiki (http://demigod.wikia.com/wiki/Demigod_Wiki) is also a good place to learn the basics about the game.

I played with a 0 / 13 Erebus last night and I would have to say so far hes #1 at my list of worse player ever lol

So unless your name  begins with Puka then I do not think you are the worst ;)

And this is why some people shouldn't give advice.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with full fire TB. You just need to understand your role as damage and do as much of it as you can while your team mates provide the stunlocks, heals, shields, whatever.

I personally hate Ice torch bearer, because you need to be level 15 before you get anywhere NEAR decent damage. And by then a game could be over. All fire TB needs is level 7 to start hurting things severely.

I've played you a couple times, your connection/crash issue is what i remember, but my games are all noob/mids usa, that means you should have some clue of what you're doing to join my game,, not a lot but i expect you have more than 1400 health before running out and attacking the first time... if you ever want to play some and figure things out let me know,,

I still suck, but this was the order of DGs that I played:

*couldn't decide, so picked any ole one*  got raped.

*tried UB (he's all the rage)* spit, retreat, spit retreat....  ok getting the hang of it!

STOP CHARGING!

*continued with UB, discovered that +health and +speed are not the only useful favor items*

*tried out Rook* Get +HP favor and +HP armor, and +armor and go full HP and towers, then kite and let your teammates kill

*sprinkle in some boulder and slam with rook*...ok now you're getting it

*try out reg* snipe.

*try out reg* mines.

*try out reg* distance + slow + snipe + BotS

*try out erb* pick any build. own.

Just learn those guys, then branch out to the others.  You'll find the most rewarding DG is QoT because she is very difficult to play (other than bubblebot)

I`d choose a Demigod whom you seem to do better with to some extent, just play that one for a time in A.I. matches on Hard.

I love Erebus - he`s my kind of aggressive character. Queen Of Thorns I have a great deal of fun with, but I don`t seem to be very good at all with her... she`s tough to play perhaps. Nonetheless, different Demigods do have different attributes that will or will not mesh with your own instincts.
