Babylon 5 mod effort for Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion

This is the story of the last of the Babylon 5 mod-efforts. It's goal, to prevent another failure, by creating a place to solve our problems collaboratively. Its a port of call, home away from home, for modelers, texturers, programmers and sound engineers.

Sins Of The Younger Races Remastered

NEW - Balvarin Carrier and Minor Factions fix!

 

 

Installation Guide:

  1. Download the latest Sins Remastered mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sinsre
  2. Extract the archive into a 'SinsRemastered' folder in your 'C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder.
  3. Download the latest Babylon 5 Sins of the Younger Races mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-the-younger-races
  4. Extract the archive into your root 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder instead of a new mod folder as the archive ALREADY contains a premade 'SotyrRemastered' folder inside of it (so if you're not careful you'll end up with a mod folder inside of a mod folder and it won't work lol).
  5. Start Sins and go to 'Options', then 'Mods', and you should see the mods you've installed.
  6. Enable 'SotyrRemastered' and then enable 'SinsRemastered' too. Make sure that the load order is SotyrRemastered first/top and then SinsRemastered second/bottom.
  7. Restart Sins and you should be good to go!

Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:

We're working hard in our spare time, but sometimes there is not much spare time in live. So please be patient, we want to release stuff as much as you want us to release, we just have to do all the work, you don't :grin:

Feel free to include the B5 sins map I made months agao, it was made for a mod like this.

Included most -if not all- planets from B5, Crusade and some EU novels.

Thanks for the offer, if it is the map that was posted on these forums long ago then I'm already using it for meself (and tweaked it to fit my desires - removed the wormholes and other stuff) - Just checked, that map was from Asharil - is he a relative of yours?

I really like to include a tweaked version if thats alright with you (and harpo9999 - the original is from him isn't it?) or have three different versions of the map, from a small one to a gigantic one. The only gripe I have is that one cannot choose his starting psition in sins.

 

Has anyone found out how to make a race start on a specific planet (i.e. not the player number decides which planet is the homeworld, but the race?)

tobiwahn, i have NOT made any maps for b5, so can not give or withhold permission for work that i have not done

regarding the race starting at a particular planet, the best that i have seen is for the player to have a specific race and randomize starts off and the planet as their home planet, unless you specify the starting ships/structures as spawne for the planet that a player has as the home planet, but I have not tried playing one race and spawning a different race, so do not know how sins would handle it

Hehe, Asharil is my other nick. Both nicks both on characters I once had in World of Warcraft. For uploading it I had to use a nick and thought I had used Asharil with this forum as well. I was wrong. X|

 

Anywho... Harpo helped me out getting the map to work with Entrenchement, because I had major problems with editting it back into a working condition, I'm such a n00b.

So ehm... yeah, I kinda did both versions, and as far as I can tell from Galaxy Forge itself is that you can not really choose where your race starts (oh, the amount of re-starts I had to force myself through so I could just start out at the Vorlon Homeworld or Earth...).

Feel free to edit the map any way you see fit, just try and mention lil' ol' me when you publish your mod. :grin:

Well, I thought to make a Program one time in c++ that will let you change a map so that the starting positions can be freely chosen (it should create a new map with the starting positions arranged the way the user decided) but that must wait till another day. It's been a long time since I last wrote a parser for a game..

For the next release, maybe you could up the cost of some of the humans ships. Right now they are very cheap, like artemis heavy frigare for 100/40. If your playing minbari versus earth alliance your toast. :D

Thanks for the input, but balancing will be done in the later stages (we have little time for developing the mod atm, so it is geared towards finishing the models)

Anyways, welcome to the forums.

 

As a sidenote - the next release will be for diplomacy, so you better get prepared for upgrading, if you don't already have.

I was playing EA ... exploring the galaxy ... and met something I didn't want to ... an AI controlled Shadow race (New in 0.40 yet to be released)...

EA Explorer, normally my first ship by choice ...but no match for the battlecrab ...

Just a thought, perhaps you should make the Holes on the Ribs a bit smaller and use the normalmap to sink the holes in a little

Yes, holes already, sunk in .nm ... yes will make holes smaller once I've got them all aligned + all the other adjustments I need to make on it:) Thanks for the input.

I really hope you get this all working fella as you've inspired me to watch the show all over again. I've just watched the film the begining and the pilot show the gathering.

If only i could mod as i'd deffinatly chip in and help you out (if you needed help that is) as i've been desperate to play a good B5 game for i think nearly a decade now lol.
