Babylon 5 mod effort for Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion

This is the story of the last of the Babylon 5 mod-efforts. It's goal, to prevent another failure, by creating a place to solve our problems collaboratively. Its a port of call, home away from home, for modelers, texturers, programmers and sound engineers.

Sins Of The Younger Races Remastered

NEW - Balvarin Carrier and Minor Factions fix!

 

 

Installation Guide:

  1. Download the latest Sins Remastered mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sinsre
  2. Extract the archive into a 'SinsRemastered' folder in your 'C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder.
  3. Download the latest Babylon 5 Sins of the Younger Races mod from here:
    https://www.moddb.com/mods/sins-of-the-younger-races
  4. Extract the archive into your root 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder instead of a new mod folder as the archive ALREADY contains a premade 'SotyrRemastered' folder inside of it (so if you're not careful you'll end up with a mod folder inside of a mod folder and it won't work lol).
  5. Start Sins and go to 'Options', then 'Mods', and you should see the mods you've installed.
  6. Enable 'SotyrRemastered' and then enable 'SinsRemastered' too. Make sure that the load order is SotyrRemastered first/top and then SinsRemastered second/bottom.
  7. Restart Sins and you should be good to go!

Sometimes the in-game mod loader can be a bit funky so if you can't see the mods you've installed or something isn't working then enabling the mods via the 'EnabledMods.txt' file in your 'Mods-Rebellion v1.85' folder where you installed the mods to is the other alternative. It should look like this to work:

I've spent the last 2 days mucking around your Vorlon and Shadow suggestions and think you have hit upon the core ideas.

Added a lots of comments and suggestions to RJ's basic premise and believe it is a viable path to making both the Vorlon and Shadow playable races. There are several ideas that either need to be coded or refined from an existing SOASE mechanic. Give it a read with a mind to the necessary tech and ability additions and render your judgment. We stand ready to answer any questions.

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not being very active on these (or any other) forums lately, I'm mostly working on the ModdingEditor so Rodney and Darvroth can realise their research ideas. The work itself is steadily going forward though since we want to do much work before releasing 0.42 we need to keep you waiting a bit longer (I know, it is not fair, but it will bring you more goodies and us easier mod management!)

Sorry not to have answered by now. I will take a look at your work and ideas and ability proposals posted on origo and given to me by Rodney in the next days. I used all time I could spare to work on the moddingeditor so we have it easier to work on the mod.

I cant for the life of me get this mod to install.  I recently updated my SoSE Diplo and im wondering if that caused it.  Any help with getting it in?  I keep getting a mini dump.

The existing version V.41 is not compatible with the latest set of SoSE patches. V.42 which will release in the not too distant future will correct this. If you are still here listening, after completing the basic functionality of the ModEditor I resumed work on the Vorchans UV, segmentation is finished, pieces just need to be arranged, then I will send it to you (and myfist0)

Hi, If you are still watching this thread, I've had another look at your non-canon additions to the Vorlons (Heavy Cruiser, Vorlon Carrier), and to be honest, though they are nice models, they just look to little unique for me (please don't bear a grudge). If you like I would be very excited to have you create a unique Vorlon carrier model for your Vorlon fighter drones. Also if you could finish that Planetdestroyer of yours? :pout:

For the Planetdestroyer, it will be after i finish the texturing of the Empire shipyard ( almost done )...

For the heavy Cruiser ( these with a lot of arms, Vorlon Dreadnoughtt ), it is "half" canon :

same with the light model ( Vorlon light cruiser ) :

Of course, if you wish something fully original, i have already a capital carrier ( front side is similar to the Vorlon cruiser ) and a destroyer carrier... both based on Vorlon ship... made long before i begin work for your mod...

One more of my old models... body based on Vorlon ship, arms based on spider... was planned to be a frigate for planet bombardment... is already UV ( before i discover UV optimization ) and textured ( badly )... video at http://www.love-from-russia.be/457.avi ... well, with very little work, it can look like a Vorlon ship :

I was always a fan of B5... and Vorlon ship have give me inspiration for create a lot of models... some are from the previous century, when i was learning modeling !!!

First and foremost, I think you did a very good job making the Heavy Cruiser, but I think AOG did a bad job with the model, just adding an arm here and there and call it a new model.

Your Capital Carrier and Destroyer Carrier look to much Centauri and to little organic for Vorlons I think, though I still like them very much (the blades look gorgeous, just not Vorlon)

 

Your Spider bombardment Frigate would be a perfect Shadow Vessel though!! May I use it for a Shadow Hunter or something like it?

 

If you could do an organic vorlon looking but distinctively unique Vorlon Carrier I would be very much in your debt! I know I'm hard to please :sheep:
