Sho's Queen of Thorns guide.

Sho's Queen of Thorns guide.

A common thread on the strategy boards seems to be frustration with successfully using QOT.  To me what makes her frustrating are shamblers.  Once you give up on shamblers entirely she can be pretty fun to play.  I prefer to use her to support ongoing demigod fights and overall map control.  Below is how I attempt to accomplish that.

Skills:

1.  Bramble Shield I

2.  Ground spikes I

3.  Save

4.  Ground spikes II, Bramble Shield II

5.  Spike Wave I

6.  Save

7.  Ground spikes II, Bramble Shield II

8.  Save

9. Save

10. Ground spikes III, Bramble Shield III, Spike Wave II.

11+ whatever you want getting goddes of thorns and wave III at 15...

Items:

Favor:  Amulet of teleportation.   This is key!  I'm not even gonna bother mentioning other viable options, to me this is a must have for queen.  To support fights you need to be able to reach them quickly.  You can defend flags and join fights consistently all game long with amulet.

1.  Totem of Revelation + monks.

2.  Banded armor + Scaled helm

3.  Unbreakable boots

4.  Vlemish faceguard

5.  Nimoth's chest or Hauberk of life, either is good.

6.  Upgrade monks to bishops.

You are set for the rest of the game.

Playstyle:

When possible don't tank!  Yes queen tanks great, but this build has far less health and +health then most everyone else will, you will eventually get worn down.  If the enemy has blood lust for you pull off and let an ally tank whenever possible.  Generally you want to keep shield up on your ally and use ground spike when left alone.  Teleport in on any unmanned flags being captured by the enemy.  Teleport in on any ongoing fight to shield + spike.  Only come out of flower form if you are NOT being attacked...  Use spikes to level whenever left alone, but do not leave flower otherwise.  A queen out of flower is a red flag to the enemy.  With two mana helms you should have plenty of mana to keep cranking out shields and spikes.  Keep an eye on the entire map at all times as teleports HEAVILY effect the outcome of the game.   This is a nice simple playstyle designed around dominating warscore and overall map generalship.  It's not meant to generate demigod kills so don't even worry about that.  Kills and assists happen naturally when you control the map anyways.  Give it a shot if you are frustrated with queen, let me know what you think

Thundercles

As I wrote in my overly large post Shamblers are a requirement for Mulch Shamblers and Mulch Shamblers is one of the most mana effective heals/aoe spells in the game. Thus in the build it's more about using them to out last a opponent then using them as a demigod killed. But also Shambler actually aren't that bad when compared to the other minions. They have AOE and deal 30 damage each shot and you can resummon them very quickly. If your fighting a minion based Erebus for example if you combined them with Spike Wave you can kill off his minion, and since he can't summon nightwalkers back it gives you an advantage in the battle.  They suck for chasing down demigods but arguably the queen is bad of that period, but their not bad as minion go in this game.

Sorry if I sounded like a dick in my post, its just that I'm frustrated that they designed a demigod with (in my opinion... and a few others) completely worthless minions.

On paper shamblers are good, especially in your example vs mass rollypollies but it just don't turn out well for me or anyone else I've seen  who tries to use them.  However, maybe you've got the secret and I should try your build before making anymore blanket statements.

Any mediocre Minion Erebus will eat your Shamblers for breakfast as their 625 health is quickly gone and there is a bug with +Minion Health items for all Generals except Erebus.

I tried a special anti Minion Erebus Build* in a 1vs1 on Crucible (worst map for Minion Erebus imho) only to see how it's pointless after all.

Game went for 1:08 hours and I dealt 1 850 000 damage, as opposed to Erebus who dealt "only" 450 000 damage. All the AoE I dealt killed a lot of his Minions, only to make them respawn seconds after (when 2 waves with priests clash = 20 creeps * 80% Conversion Aura = 16 possible Nightwalkers).

Pointless fight.

*Build:

Scaled Helm + Mana Potion + Teleport Scroll to take and hold the gold flag in the beginning (which I did, but not for long).

Later on Vlemish and Gauntlets (for closed mode AA area dmg!) and Plenor and Hauberk and Unbreakable and Cloak of Flames and Sigils.

Shamblers3, Entourage3, Mulch3, Shield4, Ground Spikes4, Goddess of Thorns, Spike Wave2.
