Yep here in the free record shop, which is overpriced but nonetheless very popular with the younger buyers it's still €50

In Germany, the most important european game-market (most sales), we pay

40 - 50 € = 57 - 71 US$

thats crazy !!!

other titels like "Battleforge" or "Dawn of War 2" cost 20-30€.......so, who should pay 50€ for a small game with a mixed reputation and a lack of features ???

That's why I bought it via digital download from Stardock themselves :) Current currency calculations. It only cost me €30 at launch time.

We received a 20% off coupon already, and word is we'll receive another one when the patch situation settles down.  That makes it $32 to digital download, which is about what it would cost with tax anyway. :)

I can only imagine the game doing well at $20.  And a good tutorial could work wonders.  I love the game but it's just plain brutal on newbies.

a price drop i doubt would help, but i mean your getting more than your moneys worth in play time

I have been surprised by how stable the price of Demigod has been at Amazon.com.  It has been US$35 from release until now, never dropping below that amount even as the sales rank has slipped to 3,572 (as of today, http://www.amazon.com/Demigod-Pc/dp/B001N1C1J8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251469967&sr=8-1). I followed the game for months before buying, assuming that the price would come down, especially after some of the initial lukewarm reviews.  But the price never did drop--I just got it this month for $35.

It would seem that reducing the price to about $25-30 would help move the game better, as opposed to sticking with the original price.  I suppose that GPG/Stardock is following some kind of marketing strategy with the pricing.  Still, it just seems to me that more people might be willing to purchase the game if the price came down a bit.

Hmm over here the price has dropped from €42 to €33. Are you sure you're not just looking at the wrong site to get the game in the first place? Some shops still offer the game for €50 here, which is too high even for a launch price.

That's a good point, but here (below) are seven more popular US retail sites, and all have the game for US$35 or more (except Buy.com, which is US$33).  Again, at least in the US, the retail price has remained very stable and close to the original US$40 price.

Yeah - some stores seem to clearance out games that have been on the shelves for a minute.  A local target does that VERY aggressively near me.

Anyway - I don't think Demigod REQUIRES a price cut, but seeing it on sale would be awesome. Even if it was a just a weekend sale where the game went to $20 or $15 bucks... that would be great.  Not everyone is like me of course, but I check steam and impulse every weekend for deals.  If I was still on the fence about demigod, I'd buy it in a second if it came down to $20 on a weekend.

I expect a big-ish marketing plan as soon as v1.2 goes live. Not sure if a pricedrop/action price is part of that, maybe not because sales are not as good as they hoped and they probably need the money.

Me and my friends got the Russian licenses for about ~15$. And that price is the only reason we decided to pay for this game.

Same price in Switzerland. Just buy it online, costs like 40% less.
